Director’s Take: Addressing Unapproved Peripherals on Consoles

Seems to me that Blizzard thinks their job is done and have given themselves a pat on the back. They’ve indicated no interest in further developing XIM detection similarly to how Ubisoft did for Siege, meaning barely anything has changed from pre-implementation of their system to post.

Welcome to PC, console friends. Anticheat is a cat and mouse game. The devs produced a way to detect XIM, and the XIM developers find a way to hide their device better. The cycle will now continue forever.

If you all were hoping for some magic bullet one-time-fix, then I hate to inform you that’s never going to happen. It wont be as bad as it used to be, but it’s never going to go away entirely.

Yea I don’t notice it nowadays and I used to really notice it. Maybe I look for it less often.

The most gut wrenching part of this…… is that the amount of cheaters in overwatch 2 has increased dramatically in the lower ranks. It’s like blizzard has given them a free pass down here in the metal ranks.

It really really really sucks. Wish you guys would do better for the common ones. The actual honest ones.

Why dont they just remove aim assist so that they wont have to do too much work? I mean it I know it would take some adjustments for console players but they would eventually adapt like us pc players

What an incredibly constructive post. I’m sure that will really motivate them to do your bidding lmao

Should have remembered it’s the weekend with the quality of some of the posts today

Taking away all of the aim-assist options is the worst thing you can do. A lot of players build up their muscle memory for YEARS. We have so many options to change on console which allows us to create our perfect sens. You would destroy almost up to 8 yrs of muscle memory for a lot ot players who are playing since beta. This is a really bad Idea.

They should give us Valorant aim assist so that people shut up about the “aim bot” which literally hurts you more often than it helps you…

What’s the update on official mouse and keyboard support on consoles? How much longer is this going to take? I have stopped playing this game because I find it unplayable with a controller on my PS5.

honestly the fact they dont have M+K support on console is insane to me lol. So instead of just not adding aim assist to people using it they ban them from comp instead? So they can tell when used, but would rather ban people than put them where they belong? It isnt about console vs pc its M+K vs controller it should go for all systems, pc on controller should get aim assist as well. And they should be grouped together.

They are too busy making skins to milk more money from players.

why tf do you own a ps5 if you dislike playing controller

It’s a game specific thing. Controllers are great for most games, terrible for shooters. M+K has way way more versatility. But your question is like “why do you have a controller plugged in to your PC”. It makes no sense, you generally use both. I couldn’t even imagine playing like Madden on M+K it wouldn’t make sense.

There are games other than Overwatch which is too much for your little brain to comprehend. There are console exclusives, there are some games which are more fun on controller. People don’t buy PC just to play overwatch. Consoles support mouse and keyboard natively (example fortnite, paladins and call of duty). We just want input based matchmaking, is that too much to ask for.

This is nonsense. People adapt.

It’s crazy that auto aim exists in any multiplayer pvp game on any platform.

Just make it easier to use keyboard and mouse on consoles.

Go back in time 20-30 years and prevent the introduction of aim assist on consoles

actually im kind of curious on the history now of aim assist now that you said that

Yea that’s some random topic that would get suggested to me in my YouTube feed and I’d watch a 20-30 min video on if done well.

Off topic but my YouTube feed has kinda been popping these last few months

No it’s not.

It’s not auto aim. It doesn’t aim for you. Have you ever played a shooter on a controller? It’s incredibly difficult to make micro-adjustments to your aim.

This is where aim assist comes in. You still have to aim. It corrects your aim when you’re slightly off-target. Hence “aim assist”.

Think of it more like Aim Snapping it basically within a certain margin guides your xrosshair to the target your trying to hit. Its usually very minor but it helps when hitboxes are varied
