Director’s Take – Reflecting on the future of Overwatch 2

Because its a gross attempt to come off as the victims after failing to do anything with arguably one of the highest potential new IP out there

I don’t think I ever saw 12 people typing a reply to a thread at once before, this is gonna be a wild one

This mealymouthed nonsense is no apology. It’s the same gaslighting and denial. They don’t even have enough respect for the players they are aggressively milking to say, either, this was all part of the plan from the beginning OR the company doesn’t benefit enough from fulfilling this promise, and those of you who don’t like it can get lost. It’s not about not being able to deliver, it’s not being allowed to by the bosses, and then being forced to lie about it. You want to keep your job? Take the hits!

Whats wild is that they posted this and thought to themselves that this was a good response lmao

???

You didn’t read the statement first, am I right?

You may be right. This may be the last tinniest ray of hope left. And boy it’s tiny.

But you’re still open to criticism, so you being entitled to your opinion is irrelevant. And I don’t have to lose sleep over it to be disappointed. You see, you’re not a good person for rolling over. You’re not morally good for taking everything negative Blizzard does to you, and you won’t shame me for deciding this has gone on for too long.

Don’t apologize for being blunt. You don’t have to sugar coat your criticism, and you aren’t a bad person for critiquing as long as you aren’t saying “I will destroy the lives of the dev team because they didn’t give me the game I wanted”.

Me, I’m going to be blunt right now. I feel tricked. Fooled. Bamboozled. I put a lot of love into Overwatch, I even drew direct inspiration from Overwatch when it came to making my own 3D characters, but it feels like I love the game more than the game loves me.

Broken promises, questionable balance, horrible macro transactions, and words that amount to lies now. What does Overwatch give us besides any of that?

Chatgpt doesn’t always work with its responses very well.

This version of an applebot doesn’t either.

No, that guy in particular has been posting the last few days to try to rile people up, just a troll trying to get a reaction. Flag and hide and move on.

So long story short, it was bad management and incompetence after all.

This article did nothing for any of the people who have already wasted money on your heroes expecting PVE. This goes far beyond just you, I’ve cancelled a Diablo pre-order because I just don’t believe it won’t try to screw me too. You should have made the community aware as soon as you made this decision so the people who wanted PVE had a chance to not throw away money. Instead you rob people and then ask for forgiveness. You should be ashamed of yourself.

This feels like it was written by ChatGPT.

Do you really just not care anymore? Or do you think we’re stupid?

“When we announced Overwatch 2 in 2019, the idea for the game was centered around the PvP game we released last October”

Overwatch 2 was pitched as PVE though… the only trailer we had for years was a story trailer…

I appreciate the history lesson on the development from titan to OW to OW 1.1 but it feels like the team is still clinging to the notion that overwatch 2 is a proper sequel/ the ow2 vision was still realized in a way. They keep doubling down on it and it only serves to convince themselves.

This is a half baked apology with the same “the future of overwatch is bright” speak we’ve been hearing since 2019.

I cancelled my D4 preorder not just to make a point, but because you know this sort of manipulative exploitative nonsense will be endemic to it, sadly.

to be fair, I can’t think of what a good way to tell people that everything they wanted is gone

That probably has more to do with ActiBliz Corporate’s upper management.

That said, looks like Microsoft will be buying Blizzard sometime in the next 8 weeks.

Just gotta wait for South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa to approve.

Well step one would be telling them a year and a half ago when they stated they knew it wouldnt happen

but don’t you see, the audience itself is the weak link here. meaning if they can weather whatever outcry, the company will be ahead. That is why we need to not back down on this, with our voices and $.

Couldn’t even bother to apoligize. That’s some massive arrogance.
