The article translated to me as “we decided years ago to cut what we all promised and hyped you on but didnt say anything while we sat on our hands. And now that you all know we are pretending we canceled it to properly work in this terrible relaunch we can truly begin Overwatch 2: Early Access”
Its so obvious these HUGE maps you have planned are just already used in pvp maps with some more open rooms to fight AI sponges with the intelligence of a deer in headlights.

I don’t think I can keep playing after reading this.
It seems unimaginable that you all didn’t know you couldn’t realize PVE before releasing Overwatch 2.
This was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I have no more faith left to give in Overwatch or in Blizzard. I played since the betas in 2015. I rally my friends to play, I kept playing long after 99% of them stopped. No more.
I’d rather you tell me it’s going to take 2 or 3 more years to make the PVE that was shown than just call it quits on PVE. I’d still hold out hope then.

Well that post crawled, walked, and ran directly into a pyre to be roasted (and rightfully so).

Its obvious mismanagement and greed to the highest degree. Said this many times but imagine having one of the most popular new IPs of all time and dropping the ball so hard that Konami would blush

Are you aware that you lost any kind of justification for the “2” after the game title?
Also: you knew about the necessity to downgrade PvE BEFORE Overwatch 2 launched. You knew. No amount of “And then we tried, but we really attempted to after the launch, we tried to hold onto the inital idea, bla, bla, bla” will change that. You admitted to it in the Gamespot article. Stop lying. Stop trying to muddy the waters. It’s crystal clear. If the community is so important to you … be straight with your blog posts and especially with your apologies. Otherwise, all your words mean nothing. Like the “2” in your game title. It means nothing anymore.
You have a lot to prove. Be aware of that before you make your next announcement. And it better be more than just a shop refresh or an event that exists only to showcase the new skins in the shop or a promotion of a new skin bundle that you have to pay an exorbitant amount of money for … to fund what exactly?
You dropped the ball, big time. Tell that to your superiors (because I am aware that it’s not all your fault). I am tired of doublespeak. You deal with people who have dedicated a lot of their time to this game or product or service or whatever you want to call it. They care. They know. They are not that stupid.

Damn man, did you not get your coffee this morning? You seem a little rough on the edges.
What? I thought that the famous RTO was the entire reason it failed?
Was ranting about this on discord the other day. It’s actually impressive how badly this game has been handled. Like, an honest to god attempt would have to be made to do this poorly.
It’s mind blowing.

If anyone thought of the scope of the Hero mission for a second it is just insane 32+ hero each with a talent trees at some point you want this to be balance that every hero is fun to play and not just a few to achieve the highest score. Thinking of every interaction between each new capacities between hero is a nightmare.
WoW literally just did it with 39 spec trees, AND 13 class trees, (totaling 52 different trees), for Dragonflight. A complete overhaul of all of the talent trees from the old model to the new model. And with dozens more abilities for each class than what each hero has in Overwatch. Done as a side feature in the span of a single expansion cycle, whereas OW2 has been working on the talent trees as it’s main feature for roughly 4 years.

I have no problem supporting a game I like with my money. I have spent around 500€ to support this game, and I have played over a thousand hours since I started playing it when it was released on the Nintendo Switch in 2019. For years, I have supported the Overwatch League, Contenders, and game streamers. It saddens me to see how you have turned my favorite game into a mere cosmetic purchasing simulator. The majority of the “extensive” content that you all have added is not relevant to the gameplay, but rather temporary skins aimed to get more money from your fans.

At the peak of its popularity, Overwatch had a cultural moment and was on the verge of being a genre defining PVP game. In that moment, absolutely no one was thinking about PVE. Instead of running with that momentum, they wanted to be CoD and add a little campaign so they could have a new box to sell. Now the game is another battle pass, cash shop generic shooter. Talk about fumbling the bag.

Ok, I see. There was too ambition goals for which you told on 2019, with which OW team cannot handle. Or management do not want development team to handle
Anyway it won’t happend.
So maybe you will rename OW2 to OW1 again and return loot boxes? Because main reason for OW2 was PvE as SEQUEL.
Dissapointment is not for why it was not happened. Dissapointed because of Lie.
And you know what? Why do you think Blizzard was so much time in gamers hearts?
I will answer.
Because every time players expected too much from Blizzard. And Blizzard OVERCOMES their expectations. Thats why it was so good.
And now you not just betray your reputation. But made it worse

Its not even just Overwatch its all their franchises. Hearthstone is a joke. HOTS was gutted. Starcraft is left in the dust. WoW just went through BFA and Shadowlands lmao. This is why MS needs to finish the deal because frankly there is a combined 0 chance they can f this up harder then Blizz has

We’re not Blizzard man. They’re over there.
Would it not be possible to reimpliment a vastly scaled-down skill tree in the future? Like opting into 1 of 4 different unlockable perks per hero that could be carried through between Story Missions?
I feel like that alone would make the news far more digestible.

Well this shows then how relative and biased your comment is, because factually speaking the game is far from being dead and from my own biased perspective the OW I knew is still pretty alive.
oooo im gonna getcha, im gonna getcha

Just do it…but not scrap the whole idea, it was promoted on the last Blizzcon, I played it in the demo area…We played with talents and some items, it was really fun and almost 4 years later it’s cancel.
Otherwise, Blizzard as a whole will be impact, How can we trust the Survivor game or any demo / content show at Blizzcon? I know that under development is subject for changes but this is another level.
