DEVS about MERCY's role in the game

600 health healed in an instant (rez a hog) sure sounds like the best healer?

Some variety in healer pickrate at highest ranks is better than what we had before, of almost no variety in healer picks.

Because fights end faster and people know how to self sustain.

In high rank competitive, engagements are cleaner. Lucio’s speed boost becomes more valuable than his healing aura, because move speed helps make engagements even cleaner. If you get in and end the fight as fast as possible, there’s both less opportunity for and less value in healing since healing-per-second potential in this game is lower than damage potential.

Competitive healing numbers for all supports but Lucio do go up with rank, but that is because the fights, while shorter, are more intense. If you look at the quick play stats for Mercy among GM players you’ll see that in quick play, she is actually still the top healer… because in QP, the team fights are not coordinated and even GM players will pick 5 DPS comps with a Mercy solo healer and trickle all day long.

Competitive is a completely different environment from Quick Play. If you don’t play it, you’re really at a disadvantage when it comes to understanding competitive game balance. In an organized team, it’s burst healing which keeps up with the fight intensity, not consistent healing, that is more valuable.

Yes. The fights end faster, but it’s much more important to heal up for the next fight.

Healing up between fights isn’t any kind of challenge for any healer. It’s also equally important among all ranks.

Not being a challange doesn’t make it less important…

Where are you even going with this train of thought?

So pretty much the only issue here is that Moira is outhealing Mercy at high ranks.

Where Moira is rarely used, and healing during much shorter team fights is what’s mostly measured.

Actions speak louder than words, they didnt make her the best healer so they didnt want her to be the best healer, and rightly so, she shouldnt be. Can you stop bringing up what the devs said over a month ago? It’s no longer relevant and makes you sound like a whiny child constantly reminding everyone else what the teacher said the rules were.

Mercy’s healing is still top when looking at the full game, not to mention how much “healing” a rez can do…

Moira’s pick rate in GM has doubled since the Mercy nerf. Ana ended up being the most-picked support in high rank play, but Moira is definitely still present.

Moira is out-healing Mercy in Gold rank competitive, not just high ranks where the fights are better organized. That’s also not the only problem.

Mercy is the only hero in GM with a negative win rate, as her pick rate continues to fall.

And those are just number problems. The fact remains that Mercy feels like an empty shell to people who knew what it was like to play her both before the Valkyrie rework, and after the rework but before all the nerfs.

It’s not, stats above.

Would you believe that, mercy is nerfed down from OP god status and the other healers get picked sometimes…amazing.

ana needs skill, most people don’t outheal a mercy as ana, the other two need specific comps to do that, deathball, since they both have multi target healing

that’s like complaining that a reinhard does more damage than mccree

Well Mimi, maybe the devs shouldn’t have reworked her in the first place

Mercy was neither OP nor god status before her latest nerf. Though her fun factor left something to be desired… by the stats, she was the most balanced she has ever been in the history of the game.

If the core issue is how Mercy feels, why not focus on aesthetic based tweaks to her existing equipment?

The core issue discussed in this thread is that what the devs have done and what the devs said they wanted to do are two very different things.

The topic of what specific changes I–or anyone else–want made to Mercy have been discussed ad nauseum in many other threads you were present in. We’ve been over it. Over and over again. You should know by now even what I personally want for a Mercy rework, because you spend so much of your time in the same threads twisting statistics and shoveling coal into the Mercy hate train.

You’re kinda confused.
