I am not sure if you have not noticed, but Symmetra mains complain about Symmetra all the time. Just be thankful this one is finally slightly different than their usual threads that they spam consistently.
I don’t see how this thread is complaining at all. They miss old mechanics, which is fair enough.

There are no amount of times I will say how much I miss Launch Symmetra. She was perfect for a girl like me who rarely plays FPS games outside of Metroid Prime and The N64 version of Goldeneye 007 whenever my younger cousin comes around.

Yeah I think so too. Assuming they don’t rework Sym in OW2 (which they’ve suggested is a possibility), I think she’ll get a PVE talent that replaces TP with a shield generator because I don’t think TP would have much use in PVE.
Sigma actually has voice lines for Shield Generator, despite being added more than a year after Shield Gen’s removal. This still gives me hope it will return someday.
I wish her abilties were Photon Barrier/Shield Generator instead of ewhat she currently has. And if she has to keep TP, they should at least offer SG as alternative option!

I am absolutely happy that this ability no longer exists. made symmetra’s gameplay all too static, and nothing beats her new ultimate.
BUT … I keep encouraging that someday a worthy heiress to the support shield that Symmetra never managed to become comes along. I don’t think it’s impossible, remember when Torbjorn take the supporting armor to Brigitte? I am convinced that if Symmetra had immediately had a replacement there would still not be all this nostalgia for Symmetra support of the shields. from main Sym, I have always considered her an excellent defender, the only real flaw is that OW has decided to take the path that “support = HEALING”. in a classic MOBA symmetra it would surely have found its way as “support” rather than forcing it to be either a dps or a healer.

The thing is syms old design actually worked and it did it pretty well on ladder the only problem was we were just in a meta against her hardest comp matchup.
Had her old nonhealing design been around she would have been a top pick on ladder especially during double shields and bunker comps. As she both synergies and counters the comp with both shield gen and pierce
Sym 2.0 was a really good character at fighting slow comps and an ok character at dealing with fast comps
