None of their viewer number are accurate. Most people are just farming tokens. I’d say only 1/4 of the people “viewing” are actually watching the game.
Doesnt matter how much money they toss at it for advertisement if no one wants it. Thats what happens when you force an e-sport with a game that isnt exactly balanced for that kind of stuff.
Most e-sports grow on their own cause the competitive scene is healthy and tournaments are successful not cause they convinced brands like T-Mobile to invest. Even then they dont balance around the e-sport like Overwatch is doing and why they are losing players in mass. Players often get in each season cause they are good in the current game, not cause they have a contract with the company.

95K viewers and 95% of them are AFK, compare how slow the chat is to another Streamer like XQC who gets 10-15k viewers typically LULW

The only esport i watch is aoe2 tournaments
Im a SMITE fan myself. I used to play competitively but if you think overwatch is toxic imagine having to be stuck with a flamer in a 50 minute long game lol.
Still though SMITE comp was some of the best gameplay I ever had and it was more common for people to cooperate then not. They been running a successful E-sports scene since like 2014 I think. The trick? THEY DONT BALANCE AROUND THE E-Sport. They balance around the main game and teams adapt on their own to find players good in the current patch or train to improve. Not cry to the company for nerfs and buffs cause they have a contract or dont like a certain hero/god.
I think the only player I know of thats been in every season on SMITE is the Bellona God “Deathwalker” he’s pretty wrote the book on how to play her and every patch no matter what changes happen that effect Bellona he usually find a way to make her work every season.

You think 95K is a lot of players??? In what game is that a lot of players besides a dying one?

yeah very subtle, right?
And that is only when it is not autorunning on startup.

A lot of games. R6S on steam has ~100k average players and it’s far from dying.

Firstly, the first few weeks the numbers were still up where they were previously. Honestly Goats is boring to watch, many people stopped due to that. Not to mention it is aired on 3 platforms now “officially” and it was basically only on twitch for the majority of season 1.
Is the game dead because OWL is seeing decrease? Doubtful

“game doesn’t have 1 bajillion viewers”
Still has more than dauntless and countless other games that have come out. Despite how much people probably hate the game its here to stay.

This because I’m sure even giving it a low ball of 20% ish are doing that… that’s still a substantial chunk of such a horribly low number when they were EXPECTING 500k or more on good days.

I modified my hosts file to prevent this sort of content loading in my launcher, that is … when I used to play Overwatch. No autoplay streams.

Queues in LATAM are above 10 minutes, and 40 in GM.
Dead game is dead only on US because they have the whole company there and the platform.

I really dislike the Blizzard launcher not only do I have to see advertisement for OWL, but also CoD. Why can’t OW launch without having to go through the launcher?

the amount of viewers on twitch does not correlate with the amount of players playing the game or the enjoyment of those players.

I know Youtube content creators who go live with more views than that…goodness.
People who dont play the game can still watch OWL

Far more play the game and don’t watch Overwatch league. In reality there would still be millions of active players.

But how many actually do? My estimate would be 2k max
