Shifting to ow 2 also benefit characters like widow and hanzo and also they nerf flankers to the ground ( genji n sombra ). Each season some tanks are like how they were with no buff but somehow they considered OP due to constantly nerf of other characters, so they nerf tanks ( eg : - nerfing fown rodhog ) which benefit the one shot characters ( espicially with nerfing down the flankers).
How do you know that? you don’t know what kind of widow players I face, i can tell your from my own personal experience that i more often than not do come across them, and I’m a console players who plays mostly QP that’s where the worst widows will be, so if i frequently come across those “super skilled widows” then i can only imagine how often PC competitive players come across them
Yes each balance change since the very start of OW2 has benefited Long range and hitscan in general, Less barriers means less cover that’s apparently how you counter widow (so I’ve been told) Flankers getting nerfed will buff snipers
5v5 means picks are super important

The reason you see more widow’s the higher you go is because high ranked players are still human and make mistakes and widows at high rank get better and better at punishing people when they make mistakes. Even if you don’t make a mistake you can still get clapped because factors like the map your playing or because the enemy widow just made an insane shot that should’ve never been possible lol. Also consider that higher players play more aggressive, including supports, which changes things up.
Having said all that, widow isn’t even the most played character at top 500, its sojourn.
don’t have to be Most played to be OP, and this is soujurn we’re talking so no duh, and have you ever considered that maybe she just shouldn’t punish players that hard? maybe you shouldn’t instantly die from across the map for the grave sin of playing the game and not Trench warfare, and it goes back to what I’m saying if even the best players in the world still fall victim to her and still get one shotted then maybe there’s a problem no?

That’s a better argument. Just say this instead of insulting people by saying losing to Widow is a skill issue. Widow is a very mechanically demanding hero with a high skill ceiling that not many can reach. Also don’t ignore the fact that she also has the extreme advantage of being able to play at a range where no one can contest her on certain maps. That is what op is saying. On certain maps Widow gets free value because of how these maps naturally favor her playstyle.

“Use cover” does not always work. As the Widow player, I will put you in my LoS if you’re not doing it for me.
And maps like Circuit Royale grant way more high ground sightlines. If you wanted to use cover only when she gets high ground for free, you would never touch the payload.
If only there was support to bring all those victims of one hit kills back to life, while also being hard to hit…oh wait.
Using natural cover was the solution when you were supposed to move with your tanks. Now that kind of reasoning is just you, never moving out of cover, that is not how you play the game.
They removed a tank, but left the problem that forced tank heavy comps to begin with.
The better argument is that ranged oneshots on DPS the way they are now probably cause more frustration than fun for the game overall.
And therefore should have that frustration level reduced.
I.e. Mei Freeze, McCree Flashbang, Roadhog Hook, Sombra hack, Bastion Sentry, Stuns in General, Barriers in General.
Widow, Sojourn and Hanzo are on that list.
Although arguably Junkrat and Pharah are also on the list.

I’ve been making this argument for every fps I’ve played since 2002. So far no one has listened. I doubt Blizzard will now lol.
Bad positioning is just being visible to 1 shot characters.
Just make sure every time you fight them that their back is turned to you and you instantly kill them. Because they ignore your healing, and you always have 1 hp against them even with 2 pockets. Also make sure they have no healers too.
Otherwise they outplayed you.

This game is clearly not for you and you have had almost 7 years to figure that out with these two heroes being in the game. They are working perfectly fine and doing what they were designed for, it won’t magically change cause you suck at the game.

Thing is, we used to have methods to contain that and keep game fun for everyone else. But those things were either removed entirely, or weakened/restricted to the point, where they are no longer effective at containing one shot heroes.

At the same time, when whole team could jump back to life, or be quickly delivered to frontline right from spawn room, or given lots of shields and armor to make them no longer vulnerable to one shots.
Those are gone, but one shots are still here.
OP isn’t right. Widow and Hanzo are fine. Tired of people wanting every hero nerfed cause they don’t want to adapt a new counter playstyle.
