Crashes immediately when I log in

I wouldn’t be so sure. I have updated my amd through adrenaline, did not help. Uninstalled it and reinstalled it, didn’t work.

I’ve already done the same with any driver updates and even reinstalling from Battle and Steam. But unfortunately still crashing after a couple minutes on the menu or if I get as far as the practice range.

Same happened to me. AMD graphics card. Game would crash after a couple seconds, i uninstalled and reinstalled Adrenaline and it seems to be working now.

Hello, we are sorry you are experiencing crashes. Our team is investigating this issue.

If you are crashing and have any of the following graphics cards, please follow the below instructions:
-AMD Radeon RX 5700XT
-AMD Radeon RX 5600XT
-AMD Radeon RX 5500XT
-AMD Radeon RX 5700
-AMD Radeon RX 5600M
-AMD Radeon RX 5500M
-AMD Radeon RX 5300M
Or any other AMD Graphic card

Please update to the latest driver version using AMD Adrenaline. The latest driver as of 4/18/24 should be 31.0.24027.1012

After updating, attempt to play Overwatch.

If you are still experiencing crashes, try disabling AMD Radeon Boost.

If you are still experiencing the crash after this, please let us know.

Thanks.

updating the drivers to the latest version sure does fix the bug, also causes a ~120 fps drop for me, barely get 90 fps on everything low. no thanks, fix your game.

I crash every time I open the game. I get an error message everytime. I have done 5 scan and repairs. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I still crash everytime I open the game. Please help me

Hi Bee,

Any news regarding an Nvidia fix?

Same. Also AMD GPU. Cannot play through Steam or Blizzard launcher on Windows 10.

same. this is ridiculous honestly

I have the same issue with the game crashing since the new seasson patch. I see allot of issues with amd but myself uses the NVDIA 4090.
All drivers are up to date but the crashes still happen.
I even set up my pc from new and this aswell doesnt resolve the problem.

Hey i see you also got problems with nvida graphic cards. Did they solve your problem meanwhile?

Hi, yes I was able to. This is a quote from another thread I was in, the solution is at the bottom.

After spending a week troubleshooting this issue, I’ve been able to get OW2 to launch successfully. OW was crashing less than 10 seconds in, with every fix attempted.

Specs:
Intel i9-14900KF (non-overclocked)
64GB Corsair DDR5 @ 4800MHz
EVGA RTX 3070

Things I’ve done to troubleshoot:
Tried a known working GTX 1050TI
Uninstalled OW2 & Reinstalled
Uninstalled Battle.net and Reinstalled
Installed W10 on another SSD, installed OW2
Used the DDU tool in Safe Mode to uninstall all Nvidia drivers
Installed an old stable version of Nvidia driver
Installed the newest version of Nvidia driver
Installed Nvidia GeForce Experience app
Installed the new Nvidia App
Reset my BIOS settings to Default
Manually adjusted page file for virtual memory
Installed the Steam version of OW2
Verified integrity of game files
Ran /sfc Scannow, DISM, etc.
Removed each memory module and moved around each DIMM slot
Reduced RAM speed from 4800MHz to 4000MHz
RMA’d my Motherboard AND Memory

SOLUTION:
Change CPU Clock Ratio from 32 to 31 in BIOS. (Anything lower than default should suffice.)
Effectively underclocking my CPU from 3.20GHz base speed, to 3.10GHz.
100% a game-related bug, as this would throw a memory error: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading from 0x0000000020000032

Thank you allot! Really nice of you helping.
Unfortunately im not that expierenced.
I have i9 1300k 5.8 Ghz and an 4090 Asus OC graphic card.
If i would need more performence for other games i would need to redo my bios setting each time i switch from ow right? I hope blizzard fixes it at some point.

Hello Bee,

you propably have seen this already but the “user” dad found a fix for the nvidia users.

I must say i cannot do this becuse i need my whole performence for other games. But maybe this helps to find a solution. I hope this will be fixed in near future so i can enjoy overwatch again.

I was having this same issue, where the game would crash (sometimes without even the crash handler working) immediately after logging in. For me, letting GeForce re-apply the graphics defaults to OW2 + resetting the game settings in Battle.net launcher finally made the game launch.

Hopefully this helps someone else.

Every since last 3~4weeks I can’t launch the game at all…

I have RX 6800 and i5-13600k
I have tried literally EVERYTHING but the game just won’t launch…
Instead it my cpu usage would just skyrocket up to 95~100%
making my computer laggy as hell. But when I ‘end task’ Overwatch everything returns normal.

It’s weird because every other games seem to work.
Overwatch is the only one with the problem.
