So out of the last 28 of Comp games I have played, only 2 of them have not had this tag. Literally 26/28/ of my games have been decided by the matchmaker before the game even started.
I’m playing Tank atm, btw. Every single match has been decided by DPS. Either I get the good ones, or I get the bad ones. And that decides the entire game.
So what does that tag mean exactly? If it says “consolation” after a loss, that means you were expected to lose and therefore won’t derank AS much? Am I understanding this right? What about “expected”?
Yes. “Consolation” is that the matchmaker expected you to lose the match, and so you didn’t lose as many points, and “Expected” is that you were expected to win, and so you weren’t rewarded as many points.
But, we should be clear the difference is like 2-3 SR. Almost nothing.
Personally I’d rather wait an extra few minutes for a match, rather than instantly being put into a lopsided game as a tank.
I think this probably indicates how few people are tanking these days that the queues are instant and the MM keeps making these bad matchups that it tries to “fix” with the modifiers.
I’ve played three games since making this thread, and in all three games it was a “Consolation” loss. And go figure, it was a DPS diff in all three. 3/6 of the DPS on my teams didn’t even make double digit elims. I’m currently at D4 now, btw.
Also, kind of funny: Matchmaker had said, in all three games, that they were Gold-Diamond for some reason, lol. Is there really that few people playing at prime time? That I have to be paired with Gold DPS vs Diamond DPS?
I deranked from D3 to D5 over the course of playing today and uninstalled.
Tired of being abused by trash DPS with 12 deaths that can’t get a pick to save the game, and garbage support players that have no clue when to use their utility.
Like sure I make some bad plays, have subpar games, but am I so bad that I use an ability wrong the whole match? Like I’ve had Kiris using suzu for heal and not to cleanse anti, and Anas that don’t use anti offensively. How do those players get to diamond?
This midseason patch was my last chance for OW2. The patch isn’t bad but the community blows.
Well, I finally got a game where it wasn’t Consolation or Expected, after 5. It was a Reversal, where we had a Bastion on our team that went 7-16, lmao. Every other DPS and the Tanks all got above 20+ kills each. But Bastion, oh boy. Gotta love being punished by the matchmaker, lol.
