The Buggy Chronicles: Tales of Developer Incompetence

This post highlights that the Blizzard developers are incapable of implementing basic functionality. Furthermore, a somehow even deeper ineptitude must be awarded to the incapable, “customer support” team.

Let’s start with basics. Creating an account should be the first step of any player’s journey, right? So it is critical to get this right…

Oh, almost forgot. The captchas!

I kid you not, every possible action you could have ever done, triggered one of these captchas, each with 9 or more stages, each with around 10 options that you had to scroll through. So in total I farmed about 50 captcha questions for Bliztards to possibly feed into their cat, bee, and rock recognition algorithm, wasting 20 minutes of my life. Was the captcha trained on Blizzard employees’ browsing history?

Keep in mind, if you get one of the 9 stages wrong, you have to re-do the entire process again. You might as well make players login 3 times and call this “additional security”.

After shredding my braincells through the login process, I get a message when joining Overwatch that states that my phone number is already attached to another account. So I use the recovery process to find out what account has my phone number. It gives me the exact same email that my current account is on; so there is no other account. As this is yet another bug, I contact customer support, only to regret it even further.

Notice how I specifically mention OVERWATCH in the beginning of my sentence. What does this agent reply with? World of Warcraft. At this point it’s reasonable to say that the braindead NPC teammates you get in your games are actually Blizzard employees, because I doubt new players want to solve 50 captchas. You could ask “How to uninstall Overwatch” and they’d still reply with a World of Warcraft post.

In conclusion, Blizzard developers are the architects of digital disaster. Do not waste money on this company. Have you ever seen the email suspended players get? They are as ambigous and subjective as possible. Why? So they can lock your account at any point and not have to explain the reason behind it. It is unfair, abusive, untransparent, and lazy. It means the same behaviour between account A and B will yield different report/review results. It means they can take everything from you, and leave you suffering, as I have. Just ask Ramattra, and many other OW1 players that lost access to their accounts. They will probably silence this post, too.

[Disclaimer for those defending this god-forsaken company; you may or may not get the same issues as I do as it depends on many factors. Your “I don’t have this issue so it’s your problem” anecdotal evidence argument is irrelevant: “I’ve never died from eating gluten, so therefore it’s safe for everyone!” (celiac disease)]

Just to add on: Still can’t change icons on the forums either because it’s been bugged for like a year now. And idk what’s up with my stats in particular but if I try to look at them online, it hasn’t updated since about Season 3
