Ok so you know that part where winston tells them to take mei and leave and it shows him solo looking at the giant monster? The angle and atmosphere seemed like it was a suicide mission.
But then genji came in and displayed a level of power that seemed like he honestly could have solo’d the bot if it wasnt for writing decisions.
So my thought was “ok so genji is stronger than winston.” But then i remembered in the doomfist animation that genji got bodied by doomfist and winston won with primal rage. So by that logic winston would be stronger than genji.
So then why did they make it look like he was going to get hurt or worse? Who is stronger genji or winston?

It’s what we like to call the “wow!” factor
For all purposes Winston should be both physically stronger, and hardier than Genji, with Genji being faster and harder to pin down.
Also the fact that Genji/ Tracer are “COOL!” so they’re the only ones to do anything important anyways.
Until they show off a climatic with like Ana/ 76 kicking butt like they did in the glory days I’ll be waiting for something actually interesting and not just “Look at Tracer do everything important and be super cool!”

Genji’s new clothes have made him OP. He is no longer self conscious of people staring at his large moons, and can focus more now.

Im super annoyed winston didn’t even use his barrier like he forget it existed!
Well i guess they have to wait up for that barrier combo and let mei take the beating coz mercy is gonna show up and heal.

Characters are as strong or weak as the cinematic currently needs them to be.

Genji being small and quick, the giant robot will really stuggle to hit him.
However Genji will stuggle to hit Doom and Winston wont miss because of his cannon, which is electric and will mess with Dooms muscles and electrical arm, and can probably take more of a punch than Genji. So he would be better suited to tackle Doom.

Well there was a timeskip from doomfist’s defeat and zero hour. Maybe Genji has gotten considerably stronger.
Anyways, remember that Genji can’t deflect bean attacks so he might not have been able to defeat the whole thing solo.
If this is set post recall, then remember in the actual short “Recall” that the barrier is still a work in progress, cuz it keeps failing and exploding.
Maybe he still hasn’t perfected it yet?
He’s the deal.
Genji may be physically stronger than Winston, but he also is less resilient. Remember, Doomfist did a huge AOE attack that Genji couldn’t dodge, setting him up for the punch that knocked him apart. Winston then went toe to toe with Doomfist and won, but if Genji had been able to avoid that punch from Doomfist, he might have removed the gauntlet and Doomfist’s hand within.
Winston repeatedly gets the crud kicked out of him, but he always stands back up. Genji gets sneezed on and he’s out of the fight. It’s just hard to sneeze on Genji when he’s always right behind you with a tissue in hand.

While i dont like the power level Genji had in the cinematic either comparing the two has no use.
Doomfist was a melee enemy while the Null Titan was ranged. And he fought against Doomfist almost a decade ago.
He just didn’t have his ult ready in the doomfist fight.

Genji could fight the robot because it’s big, hard to miss and slow. His abilities can reflect the bullets and cleave parts of the robot off with his blade.
Winston has a no range and a tickle gun. He can’t go primal rage and solo the massive 8-story robot lol
Meanwhile Winston has lots of muscle in primal rage and can take a pretty hefty beating so he was better suited to fighting doomfist. Genji was fast yes but if doom punched the ground or threw a boulder at genji (like sigma) he can’t deflect it. He can only dodge and run.
It makes sense lol

This annoyed me as well.
They want to protect the police woman and the little girl, but without deploying a large dome shield? Why? Just use the darn thing.

Genji is stronger now because he just finished binging Naruto on the flight over to Paris, so he had the power of anime on his side. Wasn’t it obvious?
I feel you OP, I look at the gameplay footage. Dev should give Story mode “go Crazy” make it feel like you play as a “Hero” no hold back. For exp;
- Rein Shield: 2000>1200 WHY!?!?!?!? How 1200 Shield can block that ultima beam in that trailer. It does not make any sense.
- Long Cool down skill: Why in the world you going for war and you depend on gear that need to charge that long? Come on.
Go crazy, let us do crazy stuff as a hero. Don’t need to worry about balance that much in story mode like this, but i’,m saying that you can do 1000M-11KM Dmg like D3 do.
