Nah we pretty much solved it. Its fake. From the in depth searching to me Naruto running across Japan, we couldn’t find anything to make it seem legit. But we did find many things that proves it fake
Yeah, when I saw the ad I was looking at the way the chest-plate on Genji seemed to be drawn really flat and from an artists perspective it seemed kinda crude and unprofessional, so I did some fishing around to see if it was just obscure fanart being repurposed or something. That’s probably what it is, because all the official promotional art I’ve seen is better realized anatomically speaking. There’s no knowing for absolute sure without directly contacting this artist, though it’s looking to me like just a fake atm.
Yeah. Dont get me wrong, I looked at their other works and they are a decent artist, but no way are they industry level
The Genji just being photoshopped in would also reinforce my point:
The OW2 logo also looks as if it has been photoshopped. The artist prolly got it from the original OW2 image leak (one with Tracer).
They did get it from the original one, because if you overlay both images on top of each other, the outline is absolutely identical (including the misaligned sections going around it)
Oh and on the original one, the little arrows are missing on the Overwatch lettering
Logos like that are pretty much copy and paste. No need to make a new original logo when you have a perfectly reusable one. Like Coca-Cola for instance.
But as far someone else’s artwork being used for fake productions… that’s usually easy to identify because 9 times out of 5 these people don’t think far enough along to alter them at all.
What makes me laugh though is they could have found a proper vector-based Overwatch logo literally online in seconds that they could have used. Maybe the person who made it doesn’t know how to use Adobe Illustrator?
If the first one is really an animation/video, the arrows could like just pop out of nowhere. Like, you know, fly vertically towards the letters? (I hope this makes sense)
That is fair, however that would have heavily changed the original logo from years ago. The fact that both are identical on overlay (both the WA leak and also the Coca-Cola one) would indicate that it isn’t genuine as Coca-Cola wouldn’t have just copy pasted the original one. They have professional teams that would have sourced vector images directly from Blizzard’s press and publications team
Blizzard categorally would not have allowed another company to announce their new game before they did.
Hopefully it’s fake because Genji and Mercy probably have the worst coke flavors in the history of coke. Lemon-lime coke? Blech.
It is. As a community we got together and debunked it. Plus I naruto ran to like 6 stores and none had them
Ah, I see it now, good eye.
Yeah I bet you want to taste that sweet ‘n’ sour Mercy nectar.
IF that where the case:
- That would be a really weird way of compression cause it looks like the smearing you would see when working with a pinsel tool in ps or similar and not properly cleaning up.
- It would not only be tho logo but the whole image. Which isn’t the case cause the text and the Can’s
- We would not see the same smearing on another leak (the Tracer leak)
So either its fake or the smeared look is on purpose
What a trash logo. Probably made by a dude with beginner Photoshop skills.
This gave me inspiration to make a fake one too. I can even do it much better than that .
Hmmmm.
Looks very low-quality. And I don’t means the compression artifacts. The logos are all crooked.
it’s fake. That’s what happens when you keep the fanbase in the dark.
Everyone comes up with a “leak” to the public and gets a lot of clicks at Blizzard’s expense.
These “leaks” can have a damaging effect on the upcoming game.
If only this was true…Mercy would be making a comeback in OW2
damage boosts instead lmao
