Coca Cola Japan "leaks" Overwatch 2

But it probably won’t be the same day as the announcement.

Well for now, I have a responsibility to check daily for these cans. That said, after running across 4 stores I am kind of glad I bought a can lol. I am almost as thirsty as I am for OW lore

Looks like some reproduction garbage to me. Cans look shopped in, looks like they tried to do some color repair on the logo, fonts are off almost everywhere… but maybe that’s the type of quality they have nowadays

Oh yeah, the Coca-Cola logo. Very blurry compared to the rest of the image.

I’m running forensics on it, but I’m not very good at doing this.

Jesus everyone is giving super detailed things and I am just here on a bicycle going store to store like a simpleton

At least you can do the leg work. We’re the simpletons who are just guessing

I’m not guessing. It’s a stated fact (you can look up the term “Overwatch 2” at the intellectual property office website). It physically doesn’t exist. The product doesn’t exist. The trademark doesn’t exist. Coca-Cola would never collaborate with a service if there is no registered trademark for it as it would open them up to legal action or IP theft.

It’s a fabricated image. You can tell by the angles of the light, not matching the cans themselves, and the background having photoshopped/pasted text into it.

It’s possible Blizzard or Coke made this image, but these cans are not real, and this display is completely fabricated.

So then I guess there is no reason for me to go back out then.

I will keep checking on my way home from work every day just to be safe

But its on the way home though and only adds like 2 minutes to my commute

This being a “leak” it could just be very early designs that someone didn’t put hardly any effort in. The finesse would come later as everything is finalized. But that’s a very crude image and we’re not that far from Blizzcon I don’t think…

PVE is an epic fail!

Did some fishing around on the Internet, does anybody here have a deviant art account who can ask some questions?

I found a Kazakhstan artist (abylaikhan) whose personal art gallery actually has the exact picture of Genji used in this Coca-Cola ad, which he posted wayyyy back in February 2016:

h ttps://www.deviantart.com/abylaikhan/art/Genji-Overwatch-588505042

Looks like fanart, and the style seems consistent with other art in his gallery. In which case, I’m highly doubting this leak is real, but if anybody can directly message this guy on deviantart and find out if it’s his original art then we can confirm for sure.

That is why artists should really watermark anything and everything that goes on the internet. But you could verify that yourself with some overlays.

I mean if you go to the deviantart link and look at his posted art from 2016, and then compare it to the Coca Cola advert, it’s exactly the same art.

I thought you meant you weren’t sure that it really was. That is verifiable with overlays because it would really just look like a paper tracing since I seriously doubt anything was done directly to alter the image post-production

Yeah that’s it, the lineart is in his gallery too, with his signature. And it shows as being posted in February 2016. But I don’t know who this guy is, maybe he wound up working for Blizzard or something and this was his early design works, or maybe it’s taken from an official coloring book that released around that time or something, who knows. The artstyle and linework looks consistent with other stuff posted in his gallery, though, across different game franchises, so it’s hard for me to say.

They hardly have any followers and there is no link to an actual industry level profile. Safe to say they are a nobody

If it’s true then I guess it’ll come in handy when I need to make something shine again or unblock a sink or toilet. That’s what I usually use coca cola for, not to drink :stuck_out_tongue:. It’s hard to say if it’s real, compression might be making it look fake.
