I just don’t like the Brig, Mercy and a few other. You can’t make Brig only get a 1 second heal with each hit with only 200HP no matter how annoying she is and how strong she currently is

Yeah… I don’t think you have to worry about that with Chipsa, he’s never had any kind of Blizzard endorsement that I know of. More of an entertainer with the kind of personality… you probably don’t want to put your logo behind.

You guys should listen to him, he’s from Birmingham.

i promise you the manbaby known as chipsa, isn’t joking… I was thinking the same thing as i read his changes, then got to doomfist and it was like BUFFS.

i have not mastered this game nor im a gm player or high skilled player. im not gonna mock his assessments since everyone is entitled to their opinions and i think he has weight since he has played this game tons and he has got to the peak he has. it is an opinion tho and he shouldnt be a focus. if people focus on only on him then it is wrong because he has peers in his rank and file so what do the other ā€œHIGH RANKā€ players think. it shouldnt be all focused on one player

I mean, I’ll give him credit for admitting up front these are not necessarily well thought out, but uh, yeah, these are not well thought out.

Just a first glance makes it look like he’s just going off emotion, anything that causes trouble for him and especially for Doomfist gets nerfed (Bap, Brig, Cassidy, Sym, Widow, damage boosting in general), anything that helps him gets buffed (Doomfist, of course, but that Lucio buff is wildly unnecessary), and anything that doesn’t matter to him gets completely ignored (Bastion, Reaper, Ana).

It’s as biased a list as you can see a streamer make.

Am I missing something here are you a console player? As a Mercy player and a viewer of Mercy streamers, passively pocketing a single DPS all game is not a good strat. Every good Mercy I know is constantly using GA, superjump, her pistol, etc. Obviously she’s a single Target support, barring her ult, so by default yes she has to pick a single target to buff. That’s not imbalanced or un-interactive, it’s her just particular sub category of support.

That said, I’m fine with tuning her dmg boost down if buffed in another way. I’m curious as to how she’d be made more skillful and interactive…

These ā€œpatch notesā€ are a sad joke, raw and work in progress is a dramatic understatement. At least when I make suggestions I put more then 2 seconds of thought into it and try to take in the whole scope of the game’s balance.

Well, I mean:

Widowmaker: Remove her from the game. She is cringe

This whole patch suggestion is just Chipsa babyraging because other heroes exist. You know. His usual schtick.

But buffing him to keep up with the power creep of the game doesn’t solve anything. The other heroes need to be tuned back but his design isnt dysfunctional it’s just overshadowed by characters that can do too much. He is fine the game just isn’t balanced in away that allows fair heroes to compete.

Reaper is technically a fair hero. He fulfills the niche that hes in when he needs to just fine. Hes in a poor state cause the niche he fulfills isnt as good in this current meta, and alot of heroes are blanetly powercrept to be good at everything which breaks the game. Having reaper changed would only serve to further break the game, especially if you intend to nerf the majority of the power crept characters.

If you feel like Mercy is a glorified damage booster, that would be because in the current climate of damage spam, any sort of healing (especially consistent, non-burst) is vastly undervalued rather than doing more and more damage and all the damage dealing in this game has been vastly pumped up at a consistent basis. You see it in the way people play Zenyatta, for instance.

It means you won’t be able to fly out in the open because you will get deleted by damage spam in an instant and that your beam efficiency will be vastly better if you can help your own damage dealers do even more damage per second.

To get higher beam efficiency, it means going with the highest, most consistent damage spammer in the game. Since your healing is far less value nowdays, with it being non-bursty in nature. Because you’re definitely not going to get a good beam efficiency by healbotting tanks and bluebeaming someone who is not constantly firing at the enemy team or healing tickle damage when you could be boosting a dps shooting at the enemy team. And sometimes the best beam efficiency happens if you keep beaming the same person because they’re doing better than rest of your team or faciliating offangle value. Or because blizzard has designed some heroes to have high consistent damage output, like echo and ashe.

Mercy doesn’t need to live in the mass ress healbot era forever, because the game has changed a lot.

It doesn’t mean Mercy doesn’t utilize her kit though, far from it.

There’s also the fact that people who flex to mercy aren’t playing mercy to her fullest capacity since it’s not exactly easy to fly from target to target, while being targeted and staying alive while still having consistent, high value beam uptime.

People not accustomed to playing mercy or those who are used to playing in duos and pocketing their friends are definitely the ones who will just take a safe route.

Soloque top 500 mercy is a different breed altogether and it’s that kind of mercy player who should be used as an example of how mercy is utilized, not the pocket mercy who’s attached to their smurf booster to the detriment of their entire team.

Changing mercy’s pocket nature would be to essentially change her from single target healer to multitarget healer and change her entire game design from the ground up. Or nerfing just about all damage in this game to early OW levels, so her lower levels of consistent healing becomes valuable again. Since pocketing instead of flying around is player choice. Nerfing damageboost would just make her useless because her consistent healing is not that valuable unless it’s buffed to OP levels.

that wasn’t flat’s whole patch though, he legit just SUGGESTED changes to be tested out, not all at once
