Cassidy's grenade should of been an actual flashbang

Here’s my take, you might like it:

Flashbang Grenade:

Cassidy lobs a flashbang grenade at a short distance that damages and blinds their opponent for a brief period of time. The flash then fades away rapidly. The grenade does no stun.

  • Damage: Direct hit: 50
    __________ Splash: 10-30 (does not stack)
  • Projectile speed: 20 meters per second
  • Area of effect: 0.5 meters (projectile size)
    ________________ 2 meters (splash radius)
  • Casting time: 0.125 seconds for throw
  • Flash Duration: 0.65 seconds on impact
    __________________0.35 seconds on splash
  • Flash fade away time: 0.35 seconds
  • Cooldown: 12 seconds

** Flash can be an optional bright white screen or a still image of the last screen that was captured and equally fade away.

So pretty much think the flashbang in Counter Strike and no CC (i.e. stun). You flash them but it also does damage but not enough where you can one tap a 200HP opponent in the head for lets say 140 dmg + 60 dmg from grenade = death. So roll to flashbang and get 50 direct dmg then one tap = 10HP left so they have a slim chance to live vs stun grenade to double tap any DPS/Support.

This makes it so the player always has control of their hero but at a disadvantage of not knowing where anything is for a short period of time, not too long so it’s unfair and not too short so the risk is too great for the attacker.

I just think this is what Cassidy should of been in OW1 and also now in OW2. CC still gone but still has a risk vs reward factor. All numbers can change if they don’t work out, I’m open to any ideas of what is too long/short and etc.

so basically a nerf, any proposal to buffing something else of his kit in exchange for the removal of grenade/stun?

I actually like the idea of flash, excepted this is not csgo nor valorant (where turning away 1sec from the opponent will get you killed immediately by 1 tap).

really wish for him to have some mobility instead of being a sitting duck and relying too much on shield.

The guy that was named after in Blizzard did some bad things to women in said offices. Changed name to avoid bad PR.

So were his stuns in OW1, I rather be flashed and be able to move instead of being insta killed for being too close to Cassidy from stun - head tap - head tap at full health. You couldn’t even move your move while stunned. F that mess.

Half-second stuns are way less terrible than flooding your monitor with white and playing grating tinnitus sounds through your speaker.

Wait …You mean to tell me that Blizzard changed the cowboy fella’s name to Cassidy because a real life person with the same name did something inappropriate in the workplace?
WTH ?!

I’m not saying make it 100% exactly like Counter Strike, no need for the sound to be altered and again if you read my post it says have the option of a white screen OR a screen shot that last a short time then fades away.

McCree was named after him.

How about messing with his roll stats?

What’s real fun is when you see his name in your periphery and it looks kind of like “Cosby”.

Naah, back when it was even called Flashbang it didnt blind so why start now?

Flashes are just dumb imo, if we can live in a world where there is no flashbangs other than the pure screen pollution that happens every now and then, i’d prefer it that way…

It just leads to random stuff happening and is not too different from just getting stunned anyways, then also barely useful against characters that dont care about aiming as much or have defensive abilities so… all’n’all i dont think it really fits.

Basically your ted talk is “make it even worse vs high mobility heroes”

Please stop, im having flashbacks of old payday 2 flashbangs that flat out spawned underneath you with nothing that you could about it.

Change it, its awfully bland, quite possibly one of the most bland things they introduced, its just Ctrl+C Pulse Bomb without any of the skill expression, something like this:

But then, what will you do when people complain about that version of his grenade?

or just simply give back his OW1 flashbang

I expect they will change it, but it won’t be to this.

The problem is, anti flanker stuff always gets people complaining, but, you need it in the game.

And people keep making suggestions to make it NOT anti flanker, but you can’t do that.

It needs to work on highly mobile heroes, and it needs to have an effect which is effective against those heroes.
