Can't join the game/freezing

After this lovely update with One Punch Man event, this game decided that joining is not available for me. The game freeze everytime i’m trying to turn it on and its stays at ‘‘entering game’’ with music (of course). Scaning didn’t change anything same with turning pc again and reinstalling or even running it as a administrator

This happened to me after the season 3 update, the game randomly started working again a few days later. Has also happened after this update.

I’ve tried to run OW 6 times this evening.

First time it hung when I clicked the shop panel.
Second time it hung while I was browsing the shop.
Third time it hung on “Connecting to server”
Fourth time it hung 5 minutes into a game.
Fifth and sixth times it hung on “Entering game”

I have the same isuue after and before the update ;(

I have the same issue. Tried to join a comp game. Game froze and nothing works to get back into the game.

!!Guys that might help!!
If u have discord on, u have to completely turn it off before playing. So click on ‘‘quit discord’’ on taskbar (or whatever this up arrow is called) and then try turning the game on.
Its seems like that was a problem for me ( whats funnier after 1min I did open dc and overwatch didn’t freeze, so u can use dc once again after turning on the game)

I have had a similar issue on and off, where most ranked games fail to start.

tried this and every other thing adjacent to this idea and it still gets stuck on entering game, RIP i guess until it magically fixes itself

I am experiencing the same issues. I’ve tried repairing the files, checking for updates, restarting my computer, closing all other applications.

I was playing normally earlier today, after my last game finished, the overwatch game client had a popup saying there was an update so the game closed. I tried to play several hours later and am seeing the same freezing on “Entering Game”, or shortly after the client starts up. I am unable to play a game without it crashing.

Just did a complete reinstall. First game after reinstall same issue. Cannot join a ranked game.

Hi! I had the same problem after the one punch man update. I managed to fix the problem by reseting the overwatch settings to default and restarting the game. Maybe it helps for you guys too.

Issue is that I cannot even get into the game now to reset settings.

You dont need to be ingame. Open the client → Click on the option wheel nex to the “Play” button → game settings → reset overwatch settings to default → start the game and look if it works.

I think I’ve had issues with OW2 randomly freezing ever since the game launched. Never once happened to me in OW1. Ever since the latest patch whenever I go into the shop or look at something in the battle pass it freezes for ~3 minutes and then logs me out. I wonder if they’ll give us another mediocre skin and weapon charm for log-in issues this time?

I am also experiencing this problem, and as such, no ideas in this thread has helped. Im making this post so when I am, inevitably, unable to complete the battle pass over this, i can point to the exact time that blizzard caused all this.
they really do no care about us, because this is happening to the people who stuck around, the people who buy the passes and everything else.
this is just like when i bought my first battle pass, and never got my coins for it.

Tips to fix-

1 – Restart your PC/Windows.
2 – Turn off Onboard Audio.
3 – Modify Games Settings.
4 – Check for the presence of viruses and malware.
5 – Delete Temporary Files.

I’m experiencing the same issue, after March 7th update, the game stopped working.

  • I updated the game, and after launching it, it’s frozen in the “Entering Game” screen. The icon next to it doesn’t even move.
  • I reinstalled the game, but the issue persists.
  • I went to the Game Options as someone suggested here and clicked on “Reset In-Game Options”, but that also didn’t work.
  • Tried cleaning files, etc. Didn’t work.

Hopefully it gets fixed quick, as I want to be done with the Battle Pass so I can uninstall this game.
