Something really needs to be done about tanks in the lower ELOs of comp. I had a tank today that said we’re diving on them and proceeded to feed into them over and over and get mad that we didn’t pick fast characters to go in with him. (I was Brig & Zen) I have tons of tanks that have no idea what they’re doing and go in alone thinking they can 1v5. Granted, I’m only Silver 4, but this season I’ve proudly won 27 games, 18 losses, & 2 draws as tank. I aim to protect my supports and enable my damage. I provide a safe place for the healers. I shield for my damage and smash the flankers. Knowing when to push in is tough, but it is usually earned, not taken.
Anyhow, if I go in games as role queue support (silver 3) and damage (bronze 2) I’m not seeing this protection. Predominately, the tank is just in front of the crowd holding down the W-key. If a flanker gets past, there is no concern. Sometimes I get a good one, but it’s mostly bad tanks. Therefore, I believe I’m at the mercy of luck. I feel like some of this should be taught somehow by Blizzard. Tank is a strange role and people in metal ranks seem to erroneously think that they’re the most awesome fighter on the team. They think it’s their job to carry, not be there to punish anyone stupid enough to enter the space that damage has earned.
In other words, I really think Overwatch needs a (perhaps mandatory) tank training program for comp.
Sure, the first two are losses tonight. The third is the guy that was “diving”. The last two are wins. I appreciate any criticism.

Going back to openq 6v6 with tanks in pre rq state is the solution, tank players below GM are not in anyway remotely capable of handling the extreme responsibility of solo tanking for the team.
Going 6v6 will actually make things easier for the casual playerbase.
I’m curious about 6v6, but I’ve only been playing Overwatch 2 since season 3, so I’ve only experienced 5v5. I’m gold 3 open queue and we usually run two tanks and 1 dps. I’ve noticed one tank takes the responsibility of actually tanking, and the other generally runs the attack. It seems like this would translate better in the lower ranks.
When it started it was open q with no limits like you can have two wintons etc but we settled on one hero rule and it was for majority of ow
Was best of times for most playerbase, but cause dumb jobless people in gm started playing three tank three support comps, the game was ruined with role q with two tanks two dps and support.
Till then you can swap roles in game you can switch from dps to tank or tank to dps the game was creative.
All that said even rq 2-2-2 was better than anything 5v5 1 tank has, another tank synergizing with you is always ways better than any buff.
These were not raid bosses but normal heroes doing well.

2MCF95 - Clearly you are duo with Moira. Again you are brig and you are not playing near him. So why exactly are you brig ? He cant get value from you. Moira is the one on him, when you both should be near him and on offense. Why are you on ball ?
Stopped watching this one after he died twice, no communication. Tank goes in alone but you are Moira are like glue. Clearly you both are on discord. While the tank is left holding the bag. Also the tank is probably new. He did get the Cass on first charge, but you both left him alone.
995H0E - Good swap to brig on this one when tracer started farming you on Zen. The tank is on the point alone for a whole 30 seconds, while you are trying to 1v1 a pocketed Orissa. After the tracer bomb, you spent 20 seconds typing, while 3 of your team mates are on the point ?!?! Again here you are trying to 1v1 the Orissa. I stopped watching, while your tank is dieing alone inside his own bubble.
I think that is enough. YOu should not be saying Tank training when you should be a tank. You don’t have the healer mentality. Just pick up a tank and go. You can 1v1 tanks all day after that.
2MCF95 - Other than this code, which I think the tank was new or not on comms, because he was charing in exactly when you and moira were falling back.
Not trying to be rude, but if you are bronze or silver, you are going to get bronze or silver tanks. Nobody ever accused them of understanding how to tank or being good at the game. And honestly? It does not get better until you hit master.
