Ya and so is your mom
Sorry, but it’s pretty much a fact by now that video games are pieces of art and in fact a really prominent one.
It’s pretty much the culmination of all visual arts, music composing and the aspect of advanced technology marrying all these pieces together.
Fashion requires the same amount of time, labor, skill, and requirement of a whole bastion of historical and thematic knowledge of various different influences, as game development.
It has substantial cultural impact, it has a whole dedicated field of study in higher education, it has an industry surrounding it, and it requires (quite often) a team of people to create a proper assemblage over many long (and sometimes short and stressful) periods of time.
It has so many parallels to game development, architecture, and even just painting but with different materials and a different canvas.
It’s not a performing art, but it’s still equally valid as an art…
Literally everything is art, even BS declarations of urinals as a readymade sculpture, or meaningless forum posts criticizing the ubiquity of art that get printed and sold on eBay.
The more you try to make a case forit, the less it is… so instead, how about you just appreciate things instead of fruitlessly debating it?

Seriously, this is such a basic conversation in literally every single first week of classes in art school, we dont need any more hot takes on this. Do yourself a favor and say bye to everyone that decides to waste your time debating on it, and you’ll save literally hours or even days of your life.
