Burned out / bored already with OW2 and don’t know why

I have been playing since the day OW1 launched, the last 3 years was stale and I am sure we all thought there couldn’t be a worse situation with rushed OW 5v5 release than those days but turns out we were wrong.

  • I really don’t know what is the main reason for the game feeling bland and boring.
  • I have started playing other games which I didn’t do for the last 5-6 years, I played fortnite and valorant here and there but always came back for some OW
  • is it the state of hero balance, 5v5, horrible idea of map rotation, no portraits to give a sense of progression after completing the battlepass, or something else? Or all of the above and some more?

Any thoughts? And some copium, if even possible at this stage

Same maps get old fast, to be honest.

Ya, route 66 didn’t get boring for 5 years but all of a sudden it’s boring now after about a month into OW2.

  1. everything is considerably easier than before, everything is just free’er

  2. these contrived meta’s are cat crap

  3. who cares about any more this is the core function

boring meta and the small map pool is whats ruining it for me

OW1 was slower paced, more unique, required more team work, and had more room for comp variety.

OW2 is faster, simpler, and rewards clicking heads to an exorbitant degree.

Honestly its not surprising you find OW2 boring, its an easier game with less going on. After the newness of OW2 runs out, I think people will start to realize it has heavy flaws.

Why are you burnt out? You’ve been playing the same game for six years. ANY game will be boring if you play it regularly for that long. Uninstall, do something else and come back in a year.

It’s a game. Unless someone is paying you, the only reason to log in is because you have fun. If you don’t have fun anymore, do something else with your time. It’s not more complicated than that.

I’m honestly right there with you.

For me, it’s a combination of:

  • Limited maps (I’m sick of Lijiang Tower and I want to see it cast into the ether after this season)
  • Same heroes dominating most matches/almost in every single one
  • Slow balancing
  • Lack of events
  • Not rewarded at all for your time after you complete the battlepass and get the last title

It’s just…sluggish.

Ya makes sense, all that you said. I didn’t realise the simpler part but now if I think of it, it is. Similar abilities, like how now ramattra is getting sigma shield sort of an ability, plus DF block and a 5x bigger zen orb. The overlap between the heroes and their abilities is not helping with improving the variety like how it was with OW1 except a few like Brig, moira etc

Small map pool, horrible balance, and very few viable heroes. Gets boring very quickly especially with Sojourn and Widows in a lot of games.

Thanks for your valuable advice

haha. within the ‘small’ map pool, I just hate some of the maps. What i can think of right now, dislike the lucio/brazil map. Probably its just me.

I actually have had more fun with Overwatch when I’ve balanced it out with different games, especially when they’re different.

Risk of Rain, Pokemon Violet, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Darktide are so differnt that when I do come back to Overwatch, it feels a little more “new”? Like, it’s not my usual gaming experience anymore, and that keeps it feeling less stale.

Still stale! But a little less.

Not just you. A lot of people seem to dislike it.

Also, the irony that it’s Lucio’s map and it’s so bad for wallriding lol

Ya I hate it too at times because it reminds me of Numbani and of how people didn’t know how to attack the first point and get the payload. Here too people mess up on the first point and it’s a pain getting them to play together n win the point

I don’t why i get bored of OW2 small map pool. When in TF2 all i did was spent of 24/7 pl_upward, ctf_2fort and plr_hightower. I play them day and night and never got bored.

But in OW2 it has better looking maps, unique heroes than TF2 and i get bored?..

What!!! I thought Lucio exclusively was supposed to stand on payload and use the DJ emote in that map!

Their isn’t much reason to play consistently. This game wants to be a battle pass game. Which means it’s a seasonal game. And once the battle pass is gone I can just go play the new PvE and grind out skill trees on my heroes….

Same feeling here mate :smiling_face_with_tear:

For example Dust II in CSGO, I played it since childhood and I can still play on it for hours without getting bored.

Somethings don’t have a straight explanation I guess, it’s just how it is and we won’t know why

did you do the BP?
the BP system puts “pressure” on players to complete it and at times you force yourself to play more than you usually do just to keep on the leveling
