Blizzard just officially reinforced this for me

So, some of you know that Blizzard just held an AMA on the Overwatch subreddit. I posed what I feel was a very reasonable question, but it also called out what I also feel is a very serious problem with community relations.

From what I have personally witnessed from lurking in these forums, accounts from friends, and even other community members, it feels very much that Blizzard seemingly cares very little for what and how the community feels.

My question went completely unanswered and probably will remain as such. I get that nobody wants their flaws pointed out, but this is something that can’t just be ignored. You can’t sweep flaws in community relations under the rug and just expect them to dissipate. Well, I guess you can…if you are okay with losing community members.

Why is it that only the questions that didn’t point out a flaw were answered, but then questions like mine that pointed out a flaw with the intent of hopefully having it fixed are ignored?

This blatant disregard has proven to me and reinforced the feeling that Blizzard does not care about community relations and is perfectly intent on only doing things their way. Why even host an AMA?

Note: I am not salty because my question wasn’t answered. I don’t care, quite honestly. I am only bringing this up because this is quite possibly a major flaw that needs to be fixed for the betterment of the game and community. One that Overwatch 2 shouldn’t have, but it probably will. Wanting things to improve is nothing bad.

Maybe someone here can enlighten me on why this happened and/or why Blizzard feels it’s alright.

Could I at least know what your question is?

Probably something along the line of why not hosting AMA in the forum

^ This. You typed a bunch but didn’t exactly provide any info lol. It just seems like you’re mad they didn’t answer your question specifically.

Or maybe because there were a bazillion questions showing up every second. A lot went unanswered. You can’t expect them to answer every single one.

Last I check, there was literal hundreds of questions, so what makes your question so special?

To all of you, by using context clues one could figure out that my question was related to community relations and Blizzard not listening. Additionally, it does not matter what my question is. I chose not to share that here because it doesn’t matter. If you all want to know that bad, go to the AMA thread on Reddit and find it. Or don’t I really don’t care.

My post here was made because I’m curious why they chose to really only answer/give attention to the questions that didn’t call out any of their flaws and ignored the tough questions.

Nothing makes my question special, curious how you got that idea because I never once said my question was special. Yes, there were like 3,000 comments, but they also had 8 staff “present” during the session. And my question was asked during the first half of the session and there were tons of questions answered that were posted during the second half. So that really is not an excuse.

The only thing that even remotely comes close to “explaining” why my question wasn’t answered is that they saw it and didn’t care to even acknowledge the issue. But hey, let’s just sweep the issues under the rug and pretend they don’t exist

they answered one of my questions but from a different person essentially, keep looking if you had a similar question to someone else that got answered.

Don’t worry, we got the important questions answered.

“what is torbjorn’s favorite food”
“overwatch hero in super smash bros” x2
“Can you give sigma shoes please, or even socks”
“crossovers into other games/media”
“which hero makes the best scrambled eggs”
“how much do you guys play the games these days” x3
“why can’t certain heroes have golden parts like Ashe’s bob”
“whats new in Overwatch”

it would really provide context as to what you think a question that points out a “flaw” is.

Those are hardly important questions to have answered, and the fact that those questions were given attention and one about an actual issue in the game was ignored is even more infuriating. It’s real funny to me how so many people just settle for less and not put up a fight about what is really troublesome.

Sigma wearing shoes or Torbjorn’s favorite food is Wiki material. Problems with community relations is actually concerning and should be resolved. That’s the difference.

From what I can read here, I probably would choose to ignore your question as well, it sounds like something very inflammatory and would ruin the AMA for everyone else. This is not a interrogation, they answered what s best for the thread, obviously getting into a heated debate with some random is not the proper way.

That’s a lot of words for “I don’t want to tell you guys.”

It does matter. You say that you only wanted to point out a flaw, but for all we know you could have been all “why do you guys suck at communicating?”

We don’t know the question, or how you asked the question, because that absolutely matters to determine whether or not your question was even worth a response in the first place.

I mean there’s 2500+ questions so…

Only posting it because I can’t just paste the question here and leave out why the question was made. If you guys think I should have worded it differently, that’s fine. But honestly, I was just trying to be as blunt as possible. I don’t beat around the bush. But also, I personally don’t think I was being disrespectful or even toxic.

As stated previously, at the time the question was posted there wasn’t the same amount of responses. And other questions that were posted AFTER mine were answered.

I can see why they wouldn’t answer it

I wouldn’t even read that.

Of course they didn’t answer it

Me too, we all know the answer, they can tell you the answer, and you definitely not gonna like that answer, then you just gonna flame even harder.

if yours is that first block of text the answer is they definitely DO listen to us:

How much do you listen to pros over casuals?

well there are about 200 pros and 50 million casuals… but we both know you’re not asking for that percentage breakdown =]

we listen to everyone’s feedback. it’s all important. when it comes to balance, we primarily balance the game around owl, gm/masters.

So your answer is: They do listen to you and your suggestions are heard, however the actual balanced decisions are more focused on “higher” level gameplay.

I highly suggest Wyomingmysts compilation. it makes it way easier to read:
