I know itā€™s a lot to hope for but I do hope the state absolutely nails their @ss to the wall.

Thatā€™s actually very possible: after this lawsuit is gone theyā€™ll have to bring up their ESG (ā€œgood companyā€) metrics; what better way than trowing some rainbow smoke to the public?

(just to avoid criticism: with rainbow smoke I mean actions that apparently support the LGBTQIA+ community while actually being ONLY appearence)

Actually itā€™s good that they call it Rainbow and it should stay that way. You do know the Rainbow symbolized/represented many other things before pride ppl adopted it right?? To me it symbolizes Godā€™s covenant with Noah/Mankind. In other words for me itā€™s about the agreement. Also, I believe in parts of Africa they use the rainbow to symbolize their culture. So yeah keep it Rainbow

Christ, this is actually sickening to read. It sounds so exaggerated yet itā€™s actually real (and if this gets 404ā€™d Iā€™m only gonna get even sicker). Were all these allegations directed at the WoW team, or does this happen at Blizzard in general?

While not a theme park, but my last retail job ca. 2018. It wasnā€™t a man who was being absolutely toxic, it was the female manager who made me do the stupidest things. Just because Iā€™m new. She made me wear a tag that said ā€œtraineeā€ (even though I was a full time employee), so customers were aware that I donā€™t know what Iā€™m doing, even though I fully well knew what I was doing given Iā€™ve worked in retail many times.

She put me on sticker duty; just spend 9am to 8pm just sticking on price tags and folding clothes. She also hated it when I dared to speak to another employee (this employee was the only reason I held out that long. I will forever thank them for their support).

When I was in hospital, said manager made snide remarks and wanted me back the next Monday. Like lady, I was in hospital for an emergency surgery. And thatā€™s when I quit. She made my life Hell. I wasnā€™t the only one she saw as beneath her, because we had an actual trainee that was so overwhelmed because of how often this witch told her sheā€™s ā€œuselessā€.

Witch store manager felt she was this Queen Bee, only because she started working there at age 16, and she was in her 50s now.

Makes me wonder if she was bullying people because she was bullied by the higher ups? I wouldnā€™t be surprised.

Not sure why people are overly surprised by this.

Name a company and itā€™s almost guaranteed an abuser has worked for them. Blizzard should do the right thing by their employees, be rid of the abusers, work to change their culture and make amends to those who were abused (in the form of monetary compensation, if appropriate).

Likewise, the state of California should rake Activision-Blizzard over the coals to ensure their shareholders feel compelled to make the necessary changes occur at an organisation level to ensure that this doesnā€™t happen again.

Companies arenā€™t your friends. Donā€™t idolize them. They will disappoint you.

I feel for the people that Blizzard that are now being tarred with the same brush as the scum that allowed this stuff to continue for so long.

Maybe because straights are not battling to get rights since they already have them?

You gotta search a bit about stakeholder capitalism: companies are not putting themself on the side of the weak because they actually believe in their causes. Itā€™s solely for PR, and for doing better business. This discrimination case only proves that further.

We value diversity and strive to foster a workplace that offers inclusivity for everyone. There is no place in our company or industry, or any industry, for sexual misconduct or harassment of any kind. We take every allegation seriously and investigate all claims. In cases related to misconduct, action was taken to address the issue.

The DFEH includes distorted, and in many cases false, descriptions of Blizzardā€™s past. We have been extremely cooperative with the DFEH throughout their investigation, including providing them with extensive data and ample documentation, but they refused to inform us what issues they perceived. They were required by law to adequately investigate and to have good faith discussions with us to better understand and to resolve any claims or concerns before going to litigation, but they failed to do so. Instead, they rushed to file an inaccurate complaint, as we will demonstrate in court. We are sickened by the reprehensible conduct of the DFEH to drag into the complaint the tragic suicide of an employee whose passing has no bearing whatsoever on this case and with no regard for her grieving family. While we find this behavior to be disgraceful and unprofessional, it is unfortunately an example of how they have conducted themselves throughout the course of their investigation. It is this type of irresponsible behavior from unaccountable State bureaucrats that are driving many of the Stateā€™s best businesses out of California.

The picture the DFEH paints is not the Blizzard workplace of today. Over the past several years and continuing since the initial investigation started, weā€™ve made significant changes to address company culture and reflect more diversity within our leadership teams. Weā€™ve updated our Code of Conduct to emphasize a strict non-retaliation focus, amplified internal programs and channels for employees to report violations, including the ā€œASK Listā€ with a confidential integrity hotline, and introduced an Employee Relations team dedicated to investigating employee concerns. We have strengthened our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and combined our Employee Networks at a global level, to provide additional support. Employees must also undergo regular anti-harassment training and have done so for many years.

We put tremendous effort in creating fair and rewarding compensation packages and policies that reflect our culture and business, and we strive to pay all employees fairly for equal or substantially similar work. We take a variety of proactive steps to ensure that pay is driven by non-discriminatory factors. For example, we reward and compensate employees based on their performance, and we conduct extensive anti-discrimination trainings including for those who are part of the compensation process.

We are confident in our ability to demonstrate our practices as an equal opportunity employer that fosters a supportive, diverse, and inclusive workplace for our people, and we are committed to continuing this effort in the years to come. It is a shame that the DFEH did not want to engage with us on what they thought they were seeing in their investigation.
