Battle Pass is filled with useless stuff

People just want:

  1. Skins
  2. Victory Poses/Emotes/Highlight Intros
  3. Voice Lines (Maybe)
  4. Weapon Charm? (maybe again)

Like, “Oh I’m gonna buy the BP just for the freaking souvenirs, sprays, name cards, player icon, weapon charms, etc, I don’t like the skins, VP, emotes, HL intros, or voicelines”.

I’m not a designer, I know this things take time and effort to make (souvenirs, sprays, etc), but I’m sure 95% of the playerbase don’t want the BP filled with these specific cosmetics. Put something else instead, Idk, credits? some coins, Rare skins?

Blizz doesn’t know what to do to entice people to play

I like not caring about what’s in the Battlepass. It means that gameplay isn’t affected by it, which is how it should be.

I wish they’d just stop wasting resources (as little as they are) on sprays, charms and souvenirs. If one person on the forums actually says they give a **** about sprays then I will be speechless.

The issue is that those items have little to no purpose.
Souvenirs seems to be the item with the lowest diminishing returns (even though I am pretty sure they are only used to train new staff)

think of it like this, A skin requires a concept artist, texture artist, modeler, animator, programmer and QA staff.

Souveniers, sprays, icons, nameplates are all minimal investment as they’re just art inserted in the game using premade parameters. Sure someone had to model the souvenir, but they’re pretty minimal, solid, non-physic active, Non reflective and non-light source, things.

Which one do you think Blizz would rather give away?

That’s right! the cheapest things they can!

Until you see reasonably priced cosmetics, you know you won’t see anything but garbage or OLD skins and other items being given away.

It’s still cheaper to buy the REAL LIFE charm of a certain item than the in-game one.

They really need to incorporate souvenirs into some form of equippable outside of emotes. Why not victory poses? Or client-side view after you or the enemy dies (similar to how your charms are only visible to you).

Also, they need to expand the slots for emotes, 4 isn’t enough. (and also for voice lines)

This is every bp. Filled with many less desirable items. It’s not like people are going to get 40+ skins per bpass in any game.

The BP is a cheap imitation of other BPs.

They don’t even have the decency to entice you to keep playing by have grind earn you enough currency to buy more passes.

But the good thing is it gives no one with common sense to have FOMO on these minimalist unlocks.

Only thing worse was the spray unlocks for Twitch. Didn’t touch that with a 10 ft pole

I care about old t500 sprays that were based on maps. Cuz those were cool. Any non animated spray I don’t care about.

Lol they do but you guys will just hand over your money for some low effort battle pass anyway so why should they bother hahahaha.

Half the effort…same money.

The important part, is to have lackluster things no one cares about, so getting the good things feel better.

There are entire studies around this.

“Blizz, please give us some reason to continue playing”

“Best we can do is a $20 cardboard Rein skin”

I don’t know about other games BPs, only game with BP I’ve ever played is OW2. (playing TF2 since 2014). Atleast they could give us something we use during the match, like in all my OW2 playtime, I’ve only seen 20 people tops in my team using souvenirs.

Look at it this way, if you ignore all the trash (souvenirs, name cards, sprays, credits, profile icons), you get:

5 Legendary skins
3 Epic skins
1 Mythic skin
15 Victory Poses/Emotes/Highlight Intros
12 Voicelines
6 Weapon charms

If you do the math on just those items, and based on Blizzard’s current price structure, it would cost you over 25,000 coins to buy each individual item. And that’s excluding the unknown cost of one Mythic skin. So for $10, you’re still getting over $250 worth of non-junk.

You think that’s bad imagine being an actual free player. You get almost nothing there’s zero incentive for you to do the battle pass at all

Voicelines belong in the trash too now that you can’t spam them

They always did to me, spammable or not, along with emotes and victory poses, I care about none of that, I was just using OP’s list as he outlined. And VL’s are only 100c each. Take up minimal real estate in the overall value.

The battlepass being filled with filler is by design. They put 200 levels on that battlepass, and they aren’t going to be giving away 200 things people actually want. That’s a lot of work (since people want skins which hare harder to make than say a voice line or a name card,) and might give people enough to actually be satisfied with what they have so they don’t feel the need to buy stuff from the store.

Same thing, if they put in credits than either: eitherpeople get enough credits to buy the next battlepass and ABK loses out on people buying battlepasses, or they don’t give people enough and the rewards are so laughably small you can’t really buy anything after getting everything out of a battlepass because everything in the shop is so expensive.

The filler stuff is there to make it seem like you’re being rewarded constantly (if you pay, if not you get one piece of filler every 4 levels or so,) while leveling it. It’s to keep you engaged and feeling rewarded, while at the same time giving you so little you’ll still want to buy stuff from the shop. It’s not a mistake, they do it on purpose.

My issue with this is that at no point should a legendary skin for instance be costing anywhere near $20. Their whole pricing system is absurdly overpriced, so the battlepass looks like it’s a good value due to just how overvalued they’ve priced everything.
