šŸ¤– Bastion: Simplified Astro changes

Spread # of bullets DPS Time in spread angle
.75 6 45-90 / 67.5-135 HS .5s
1.25 12 90-180 / 135-270 HS .5s
1.75 18 135-270 / 202-405 HS .5s
2.25 30 225-450 / 337-675 HS 1.5s
2.50 30 225-450 / 337-675 HS Infinite

I over complicated this, but I think it makes sense.

This is how his damage would play out, since his spread time is in half-seconds:

  • First second of firing: 67.5-135 / 101-202 HS
  • Second: 180-360 / 270-540 HS
  • Then beyond that it stays at 225-450 / 337-675 HS.

Meaning he’s very accurate, which would work well for his Tank mode. Do a 120 shot, go into Sentry, finish up with that 80 damage.

But the longer he shoots the worse his spread gets, but the better his damage gets.

Idk im bored.

Giving Bastion the Mercy treatment I see

I think having a variable rate of fire might be a bit complicated…

The Tank on E rework idea actually originated before the Mercy 2.0 rework… It came from the old forums…

Well, the trick is that during his ultimate he’d basically have exactly the same Tank mode as he has now, minus the 3 seconds of self-stun.

AND the option for more powerful Recon, or more powerful Sentry.

It doesn’t really take away any of his capabilities. It just adds to it.

I am very much in agreement that Bastion tank mode should go onto his E and he get a new ultimate.

That being said I dislike the idea of Overclock in that it is just a numbers buff and doesn’t add any dynamic reactions to the play, it would certainly help with my gripe that bastions current ultimate is not as scary as his Sentry mode but only by doubling down on Sentry.

I’m also not a big fan of reducing all the weaknesses, I feel if they give Bastion tank on E then he doesn’t need extra damage at range in sentry because he now has a projectile attack to deal with players at long range and I think swapping forms based on the situation is what a transforming robot should be doing, not just staying in his ā€˜most powerful form’ all the time.

My proposal is to give him a new transformation that keeps him in a sort of Recon form but gives him a slow firing beam weapon with no range limit and no damage falloff that can pierce enemy bodies and barriers but not headshot. (balance testing would determine damage numbers, etc)

This ultimate would provide new gameplay interactions when Bastion ultimates, it gives him an additional transformation which fits I feel for a transforming robot and allows him to use his ultimate and be a threat even when the enemies are strategically saving barrier HP against Sentry.

There are a few other reasons I try to summarize in the thread I made about this previously:

Ultimately I am in agreement that Bastion needs some sort of rework but I do feel that he is a difficult robot who can’t just get some raw damage increase, he needs some utility and meaningful choices.

I appreciate you making this! I’d just clarify that there are some nerfs in compensation for many of the things you summarized, and some buffs were somewhat exaggerated. I wouldn’t say your summary is incorrect but it would be inaccurate to say I want Bastion at all stealthy, to not have falloff damage, or simply ā€œmore Ironcladā€ in his ult
