Are Blizzard inspired by our hero concepts?

There are so many amazing hero concepts and ideas on the forums that don’t get much attention. I think Blizzard benefit from our concepts as they might help with ideas for new and current heroes. Obviously, everyone wants their own concept in the game, but Blizzard could never please everyone. I’ve also noticed hero concepts generally don’t attract toxicity. If hero concepts were noticed more, Overwatch could improve more for everyone.

I’ve made concepts that I really like and would want in the game somehow if not just some of their abilities:

Hela (Thor Ragnarok) Hero Concept

Hela could be a support/damage hero. Primary Fire: Hell Sword Hela throws swords that deal 70 damage and pierce through barriers. Secondary Fire: Hell Sword Hela uses two swords as melee weapons with a 7m range. They deal 40 damage every 0.75 seconds. Ability 1: Hell Portal 15 second cooldown Hela places a portal that connects to spawn. Only Hela can use the portal to travel either back to spawn or back to the fight from spawn. Echo Hero concept

I made a hero concept just over a week ago that could work well for Echo. I’ve edited a new version with Echo, but I will also link the original hero concept below. Gameplay and abilities: Echo is an off tank/support hybrid. Echo is designed to sacrifice her own health for allies. She has 50 health and 250 shields to make up for this (300hp overall). I personally have seen no evidence that they ever look much into fan-created hero concepts… but I would love it if they gave some feedback Even if they don’t plan on using them, some of us may be interested in one day working in the gaming industry, and learning design principles from people who does it actively for a living would be nice.

I actually have largely refrained from posting hero concepts just because I feel like it’s a bit of a wasted effort… but perhaps that’s me being glass-half-empty.

I think hero concepts get lost in the mass of controversial topics. People don’t have the motivation to look at them. Blizzard should be motivated to look at our concepts. Concept creators help them and make their job a bit easier.

Ideally, they should be. And maybe they do–I just haven’t seen evidence to that end. If they were more active participants, I definitely think we’d see more in the way of hero proposals

Probably not they have the heroes for the next 2 years already planned and packaged.
