Wont somebody think of the poor oppressed CIS males?
“Silence is violence” is one of the most idiotic phrases of this century.
when the forums are more engaging than the game, blizzard has done it again!
Ehh I’d say just having men doesn’t really represent trans men cuz technically all the guys in the game are “cis men” and not trans so I can understand to a degree why people want some trans characters too
Neither can replace the other tbh
Both are “women” but both are also different from eachother
Alrighty… I honestly just think most of you are mentally disturbed.
I didn’t say such thing. At all. Resorting to trolling because you flopped in the thread with your blatant ignorance ain’t it
Cisgender has its origin in the Latin-derived prefix cis-, meaning ‘on this side of’, which is the opposite of trans-, meaning ‘across from’ or ‘on the other side of’.
People really will just be confidently wrong.
Man this thread is making me wonder wgere my bottle of ameretto went…
Sorry the dictionary disagrees with you.
You don’t think CIS has eptymology behind it? It quite literally has latin roots.
Ignoring that though eptymology is just the study of the origin of words. Stop throwing around big boy words when you don’t know what they mean.
I’m not a massive fan of it either.
I understand why some people use it, but the fact that it only exists as a tool for supporting a position rubs me the wrong way.
But hey, language always has been used like that, hasn’t it.
At this point it’d just come across as another attempt to drum up PC points rather than a meaningful statement. There’d be a fuss about it for a while, but ultimately it’d be like gay soldier or tracer and nobody would care.
The point is if you want to refer to males as cis-males and females as cis-females… I’m going to call trans people notreal-women and notreal-men.
I mean, hey it makes sense to me to call you guys that? I’m not offending you because hey it’s only the label I’m using and you don’t have to agree with it right? You can call me cis and I’ll use that for you people, seems pretty fair right?
Hmmmmm
It’s not trolling. You’re clearly differentiating trans people from regular people (gender speaking). Your segregation is unwanted and unneeded. Good day.
You’re literally going against the efforts of being perceived as a regular person from the men/woman gender because you need that “BUT DID YOU KNOW HE WAS A SHE BEFORE???”
you’re going to have to explain that one chief.
??? yall are NPCs LOL
you can be a cis man and a trans man, both are men, but not the same. Being trans is a different experience that can reflect on a character
No, that’s not entirely true.
Do you have any idea how big of a deal it was that Bill Cosby was a Black family man that was successful to SOME Black people that never seen that before on television? Clearly you don’t. Post Amos & Andy… Post Minstrel Show Black face, tap dancing content on television. You could be Black and still not care because we as humans don’t all have to care about the same things. But that shouldn’t be dismissed entirely based on our own individual experiences.
Again, I’m indifferent to this particular request in this thread. But a lot of people want representation, and that’s not bad.
However, as stated in my earlier post, there’s a lot of woke crap, and that goes with every type of person you can find that’s outside of what we view as normal or standard.
Personally I feel these companies just want to make money, and that’s okay. They’re going to pander, and when they do, it’s extremely unlikely that I’ll waste my money or time Watching the all Black cast of Lord of the Rings. But yeah, if something is written well and shows some level of integrity with originality I may spend my cash and time to check it out.
With all that said, I don’t feel like people need special treatment either, but that goes into another area.
I say this with the utmost sincerity….why is trans hero any more important than say…a deaf hero…or a blind hero….or a polish hero….or a Christian hero….or a Ukrainian hero….or an Israeli hero….etc etc
Why do people always make it out to be like trans heroes are the ones that are missing
LOTS of communities aren’t represented in OW
I see what you mean, but remember that I’m an artist. By that I mean, I take art serious, and you’d never catch me saying “no, do not add trans people into your story” because that’d be anti-art in the first place.
You can go through multiple posts to see what I feel about adding just about whatever into it, even if I can’t say I’m emotionally moved, I do see narrative potential in just about any kind of character, and I treat things like sexuality or race as things that make a character interesting.
By that I mean, if for some reason the cultural zeitgiest went back into showing less LGBTQ and black characters in media, my opinions wouldn’t change a bit. If anything, I’d be saying “you guys are cowards for not using certain characters in your story”. To that end, I feel that I’m rock solid.
Also
My concerns really are that I don’t trust these companies. Full stop. There’s indie creators that I trust to do things like black or queer representation, and I don’t think I’ve ever made a complaint about them.
And not that you asked, but Disney as a company as historically bugged the hell out of me. They as close as a comically evil company as it gets, so when THEY try to make it like they’re allies to anything, I’m the first to say “Don’t trust em! DON’T!”. With other ones, I’m like “Blizzard probably doesn’t care about gay people” but there’s enough to where even I’m not 100% deadlocked on that opinion.
Ok but they have to start somewhere
I can feel my brain smoothening.
