Algorithmic Handicapping (MMR) is Wrong for Overwatch

dude is against the rules the post, not the like. If you put a like in a insulting post (or more in your case) is legit (ethically questionable, configurable as a complement an act of group bullying, but allowed in terms of regulation).

I dont entirely agree… It’s solicitors and governmental bodies that demand information from business. Judges don’t sit around firing off orders for both sides of the argument, they are impartial. Judge’s are sometimes needed for the ‘ok’ e.g. when warrants are being issued but they have an actual job to do, they don’t conduct legal investigation.

I am also sorry, because you got exactly what you paid for and are wasting your time… Show me where on the box it says ‘this game is not subject to algorythmic systems to control matchmaking’. Also, please, show me another game akin to OW that doesn’t use algorithyms to control matchmaking… Why are you demonising one company for utilising a standard in the gaming industry?

The only ‘right’ you had in this case was to get a refund and it’s obviously too late for that, I just hope you haven’t put any of your own money into the class action people are talking about.

The first sentences makes no sense, might want to rephrase it.

Again, check your own likes supporting people like Hulk calling people boosted and smurfs + other insults. You look away from that? Double standards man, get out of here!

You forgot the word “rigging”.

If you pay for a product and this product has hidden tools inside to spoil the experience in an unethical way, to the detriment of the consumer and in favor of the producer, a crime scenario arises. Whether there is an explicit law for that sector or not, this is then a sentence (see the affaire gtx 970).

But seriously, why this persistence towards those who ask for transparency? It would be in your best interest.

Here it is simply asked to align Overwatch (or any other game) to the same control standards as other sports products or activities. Why are you so stuck in opposing those who are interested in you?

Is pretty different because I just receive insults, I don’t make. You can say I can stole the crown to the queen, but you can’t quote because I did not.

I can say you put like to explicit insulting posts, because you did (scroll up in this thread). I made a counter in the last period to face the behavior of your group, and each voice of counter have a quote of an act of a user of your group. I can quote what happened, I did, cause I say the truth.

You still didn’t explain why you are fine with liking insulting comments from your group

Simply I did not what you said. Quote.

I can also add that I formally distance myself from any insulting act, whether from like-minded people or not. If this happened it was by mistake, but please quote it.

I didn’t forget the word rigging… People climb, people fall, you’re just stuck in whatever rank you’re in and are unhappy about it.

Persistence? I really don’t come on the forums that much tbh.

Again, it’s because you are wasting your time, in vain of a previous message, show me a games company that publishes all the algorithyms they use in their games. Why arent you suing the gaming industry instead of one company? Could it be because… Of your rank in this particular video game?

I’m not stuck at all lol. I just like to come to the forums once every couple of weeks and talk some sense. But seriously, why are a bunch of adults investing so much of their time and money with an investigation into algorithyms, in a childrens video game?

Ok, but if you make an example taking into account my logical thinking you have to include that or it would not make sense to do the example since you are completely convinced that everything is regular.

None, as I have said several times there is a regulatory vacuum. And as I have said several times the same void there was once for telephone contracts, for tobacco, for gambling (rigged slot machines here in Italy).

Why are many users suspicious? Because all public limited companies in conditions of freedom have (very often) engaged in harmful behaviors for the consumer, as long as the law has not obliged them to rectify. Many try to circumvent the openings even for short periods.

Everything new is going through a period of lack of protection. What users are asking is simply to have a transparent system, what I don’t understand is what do you, or who thinks like you, do you gain by wanting to foreclose this right?

If it turns out that it is as you say, you were fine and you continue to be fine, but if it is not, why deny yourself this right? Why deny yourself a right at all costs? (consumer rights, exist)

In this thread, discussing with you I used in my examples, many times, blizzard or any other producer. Please, be honest and confirm you read what I said before. I’m here just because I’m mostly an OW player.

But if I take into account the word rigging, it’s immediately wrong. Everything IS regular. Exactly how it was designed by the OW team, and it’s been the same for 5 years. Including the word rigging suggests it is working against the consumer, and that’s false so… I don’t use the word rigging.

I have been from bronze to nearly plat on both xbox and PC, over several different roles. I am not higher than this because my skill doesn’t permit me to be, I get murdered at higher ranks because they are better and I lose SR. It’s pretty simple tbh.

I totally agree that there are countless examples of companies abusing their position to better themselves. I also agree that generally, transparency is a good thing - but there is a substantial difference in transparency for things that affect the general population, and a piece of code which describes the working of a matchmaking system in a game… You have just listed tobacco companies (health issues), phone companies (money involved) and rigged slot machines (again money, and all slot machines are rigged not just in italy btw lol).

Besides, how would a gaming company better themselves by producing a system that no one wants to play on?

And don’t you think that if A LOT of users were suspicious, it would actually be a much bigger deal, not just 20~ people on the OW forums that for some reason are taking legal action 5 years after release?

None of this makes any sense my man.

Have you seen Blizzard revenue at OW launch? Tencent incomes?

The issue is neither how much money you earn, is that you are selling a product. You are not selling 2 tomatoes to your neighbour in friendship for 2 dollars. You are acting in a market, a market regulated by precise laws.

I did not understand, your real problem is to make sure as a consumer that you receive a suitable service; or prohibit other consumers from having the same rights as consumers of other products? What do you get for it?

Yeah, they made a lot of money selling a product for a one-time purchase which was clearly advertised. It isn’t WoW where people pay subscriptions and it isn’t a live service such as on-going phone contracts that can consistently overcharge people or change other variables without telling everyone.

No different to gears of war, halo, call of duty, fortnite, apex legends and valorant etc etc. All consumers of OW and all these games, have the same rights and experience. Besides, all the people who are moaning about rigging are clearly still playing the game, so it obviously doesn’t bother them that much.

Either way, im going to queue some competitive, enjoy the rest of your day.

P.S. 2 dollars for 2 tomatoes is way overpriced :stuck_out_tongue: Thats not a good price for a friend haha.

I don’t play Overwatch anymore, and I stopped playing specifically because of the rigging (algorithmic handicapping) that I started this thread to protest.

So you quit OW two years ago?

I quit OW four years ago, though I returned to the game this year just to get some gameplay footage for my video. This thread is 2 years old, but I have made 4 other threads to the same effect on Blizzard/Activision forums, starting in 2017.

The why are you still here lol. If I stop enjoying/doing something I tend to detach myself from it. I don’t go to the knitting forums because… I don’t enjoy knitting.

This thread has been dead a looooong time. I’m quite suprised it hasn’t been removed tbh. Just to immoveable sides arguing over nothing really.

Just as some extra info on his video I made a short comment about the main counterpoint and flaws of the argument. (2nd most liked comment on the video)

Either way, I also pointed out that he <3 all the comments that agree with him will push down and censor counterpoints. He admitted he didn’t know that and <3 every post.

He has now removed the <3 from the posts that disagree with him.

https://imgur.com/F3EpAUQ

Which means he actively chose to censor the counterargument in the comments.

To add this this I drew this conclusion on another post.

He was unable to counterpoint any of it. Asked for it to be quoted twice then went on about polls that he took out of context as justification for what he does… just remember on this topic

He had 18 likes and 26 against when he asked if he should continue. So if he was argueing for people he should stop.

Very interesting information!

I wonder why he would do such things! :face_with_monocle:

can’t wait to see the code and triumph over those who thought their pixels mattered. imagine defending a system they have no idea about, refuse to learn more about, can’t maintain an intelligent conversation about, and derail with personal attacks about.

The rigging deniers already lost that rigging debate, because they can’t prove it’s not rigged. Their time is up to show any valid evidence it’s not rigged or disprove the evidence as presented.

Agree. There are legal proceedings in the works that should get access to a code audit and disclose if it’s rigged or not. Every gamer stands to benefit from knowing the truth. It’s going to be great for the industry once the stance on rigging is known and forced to cease.

Outside, I mean Receipts, never changes, same old topics but trying to write it with different gramma =]

Can’t wait to see the failed “lawsuit” of those who believe the system hates them and is after them
