After trying out the Doom nerf for myself on PTR i have this to say:

Anyways, so i tried him out on PTR to get a feel for his new Uppercut, and ohhh my god what on earth is this mess??

After you uppercut, you are a sitting duck for 0.5 seconds, you can’t shoot, you can’t use any abilities, not even your ult, and even if you manage to secure a kill, by the time you are able to move again, you’d be too low to the ground to escape with your Punch.

Is this what y’all wanted?? like I know the forums hate Doomfist with a passion and that everyone claims he is 'Brain-Dead" WELL NOW GUESS WHAT KIDDO? he gon be even MORE brain-dead! why you ask?

Cause I can’t rely on my Slam Uppercut combo to get kills anymore! all you do as Doom now is use your Punch to get kills! that’s all! One button gets you a kill, the reammaining 2 are for trying to escape.

Oh and I forgot to mention, you can’t even use Uppercut Slam or Uppercut Punch to get out that well! often times you’ll get CC’d before the 0.5 seconds go by.

Before he was NOT a ‘Brain-Dead’ hero, but now HE IS, and this is coming from a Doom main alright?

If you pick Doom, avoid using Uppercut at all costs, otherwise you will be feeding your brains out, get to know your right click! it’s gonna be your best friend!

Use punch, get out with slam, use punch again, get out with slam again.

If a dev is reading this, please for the love of god think twice before pushing this into live servers…

I still personally think they should leave the flow of his kit and reduce either the shield gain or lower the max shield.
He shouldn’t have his movement penalized to the point of being bashed by a brig self inflicted.

Oh no! Doomfist can only get 1 guaranteed kill on a squishy now? Poor Doomfist mains! Screw Mercy, Sym, Brig, Bastion, Genji and Dva mains, Doomfist is the true hero in need of buffs. Hell, every hero apart from Doomfist should be removed from Overwatch. He’s truly unplayable at the moment, and now that one of his combos takes (a little bit more) skill, he is going to become braindead and easy to play!

God. 0.5s recovery time. Let’s Boycott Blizzard guys! Also Damage orb RNG, Symmetra needs nerfs, etc.

A variant of it may, but currently? nope. But that is what PTR is for.

Yes.

People with remarkably smooth brains think Doomfist is EZ and like to down play playing the hero- and won’t feel justified until the hero is dumpstered.

This nerf will not appease them however- and they’ll still die to the unga bunga Doomfist.

All this is going to accomplish is making Doomfist fee worse to play, and not change much for how it feels to play against him- so they’ll still want more nerfs

I agree with a top poster, as a Doomfist main myself- I’ve long felt they should be going after his shields to adjust how he is to play against.

Limit his cap to 100 shields from 150, reducing his max to 350- or increasing the rate at which his shields decay.

Doomfist is good when he engages with 250-300~ hp.

When he can build to 350-400 the mechanic falls apart and he snow balls.

Wait, I just kinda realized this stupid nerf actually does solve 1 issue: forcing people to use more precise combos like slam+m1+uppercut cancel m1 animation. Now I’m slightly more in favor of this.

Still a real stupid nerf tho, they can just make the window of no primary fire after uppercut into something like 0.7s-1s to achieve this instead of making the least problematic skill of 3 into a pseudo-suicide ability while leaving other 2 untouched.

Doomfist feels terrible to play against. He takes away your ability to play the game, and then kills you. His rocket punch often relies on random objects in the map, which means you can get punched into a lamppost and killed for no reason. He’s fundamentally broken, and the fact he’s above dumpster-tier is pretty shocking to me.

His only genuine stun is from rocket punch. Uppercut boops both Doomfist and his target into the air, and slam pulls you about 1 meter. But neither Of those two genuinely “take away your ability to play the game”- such as Mei freeze or anas sleep dart do.

The good ol “I don’t like this so imma call it broken” argument.

Oh No! Poor Doom only had a stupidly broken one shot ability as his primary on a low cooldown!

Hey remember when Brig had a grossly inferior version of Rocket Punch that required perfect timing and spending all her abilities? And it was so OPPRESSIVE that it justified sledge hammer nerfing away all of her ability to fight in melee range on a melee combat based hero

He is the cheesiest hero in the game - bar none.

His ability to just go in and out with little to no consequence is one of the most ridiculous things in this game. This hero belongs in the dumpster. A terrible design…

A GM player who was sick and tired of Chipsa getting away with murder played with Doom to showcase to world how stupid it is. He was literally at the enemy spawn NOT DYING to GM players trying to kill him because of absurd mobility and having like 10,000 hp for using his abilities.

It is a stupid hero.

I don’t get it like they would have produced the same effect with lowering his damage. Person uppercutted has more time to react or get healed but if Doomfist puts well placed shots in he still gets a kill.
Now it actually punishes Doomfist for using his ability.

So they disabled his uppercut + knuckle-gun combo? That doesn’t make any sense. That’d be like taking away Mei’s freeze + headshot. Or immobilizing Hog after he hooks. While we’re at it let’s just gut McCree’s FB + FTH :roll_eyes: Ridonculous!

It’s not going to go live, IMO, Blizzard needs to stop using nerfs that makes a character’s kit awkward to use altogether - this nerf, the Sigma shield nerf, the D.va DM cooldown nerf and Lucio speed nerf are all just a clumsy way of dealing with the problem.

I’d rather Slam damage gets nerfed to a flat 50 honestly, 125 damage Slams +1 M1 and melee kills are BS anyway.

i think doomfist just needs to find a new way of playing him honestly.
like comboing 3 abilities to get 1 kill feels really redundant.

it would be like if the only way mccree would get kills is if he flashbangs right clicks rolls and right clicks.
that just doesn’t sit right with me if a character is that formulaic and only usable in that way.

This combo no longer exists. You can now only secure kills as a punch bot.

I personally love the nerf. I had never an issue with dooms punch. It’s easy to dodge and is not used to kill if are not bad. What I hate about him is his slam uppercut combo and that’s exactly what got nerfed so I’m happy.
