Activision-Blzzard-King Employees are planning to strike

I’ve seen some isolated mentions of this, but not a single coherent thread so here goes.

Recently, an ABK subsidiary laid off 30% of their QA with no good reason:

while upper management is sending out letters to try and scare people out of unionization:

and stories of stolen breast milk are going around:

It seems they’ve reached the breaking point and ABetterABK is organizing an indefinite strike- this is not a 1 day walkout.

Corporate is cutting off their salary so they’re raising funds; won’t link that here but it’s not hard to search that out if you’re interested. Beyond that, if you’ve any inclination to boycott, now would be a good time to think about it- this is going to shape the future of the industry.

Man I wish overwatch and the team could just break away from blizzard

They 100% can. No-one is forcing any of these devs to be at blizzard.

Please Aaron…

Work out a deal so Overwatch becomes an independent studio
Actiblizz will still have CoD and Diablo and Candy Crush and WoW
They’ll go from 5th most profitable studio in world to…still 5th probably

Let me tell you none of team 4 shortcomings haveuch to do with Activision, they fluked out on a product from using remains of a project, couldn’t handle its success or balance it.

The fact they couldn’t try 55 hps mercy for 18 months while ignoring the largest thread on the forum has nothing to do with Activision.

Their vision for ow is always bandage the ooze.

They don’t have what it takes, it’s just sad tgey will blame Activision for everything now.

This is the best case scenario even though every Blizzard shill on this forum will come puffing chest, defending people who have treated this community with contempt and indifference.

All that’s left in Blizzard is dissatisfied directionless people.

The best case scenario is Activision realises they have been taken for a ride by Blizzard, and disband them then sell or outsource the ips
.

Square Enid taking on Wow and Epic or Ubisoft taking on overwatch.

in the offshoot that ever happens, would we have to redownload overwatch on the ubisoft launcher. that would be so strange lol. wish it went to steam

Knowing ubisoft.

It will be either be a ‘timed epic exclusive’ and ubisoft connect or they add it to steam epic and ubisoft connect.

I don’t even work at blizzard but all this red tape weights heavy on my mind can’t help but wonder how the administrators are faring, like, is it hard to just sit down and simply work on fun video games?

Sometimes, I wonder why do these people still work for them knowing the things they’ve done, is it really worth protesting to keep your job?

Also, the balls to do this and not expect consequence because they’re replaceable. There are 1000s who would turn a blind eye and would work for Activision in a heartbeat.

Most Ubisoft games are launchable through Steam, I think.

I mean rocket league has now to be downloaded on Epic.

I wouldn’t want steam simply cause if valve took ow2 it may become like half life 3

They just launch uplay anyway though.

Which they are doing though all these walkout s comprise 500-1000 at best, while actiblizz has around 8.5k employees.

As worse as it sounds Acti Blizzard is still a high salaried game studio with stability compared to most other game studios.

You are much more likely to get laid of in studios like ubi or ea despite doing well, were they work on multiple games on a yearly release.

I mean imagine for last decade most of ow team almost a decade has had a stable job working on just one game.

As long as they release a patch like 50-55 hps for mercy after 18 months while ignoring the largest feedback thread on the forum, they are doing their job.

That kind of luxury is unavailable in most other studios.

blizz does hold the rights of the game, so yes they’re free to leave whenever (as they have been doing) but OW is literally owned by the company and by extension kotick, and you can bet your cherries that he isn’t going to sell it anytime soon and even if he chooses to do so the price would be particularly steep, so… not really happening

Yeah because it’s so easy to just uproot your entire life and get a new job; the thing you’re asking of this one person is insane, when you could just be reasonable and expect a company to provide a safe working environment for their workers. Priorities, man. Get you some.

Sometimes, people have principles. It’s actually a good thing. It’s kinda why we don’t have slavery and women can own property these days.
