Have we tried swapping the HP numbers of their shields? That way Orisa feels more tanky and Sigma is more of an all-rounder without making their double shield combo stronger. Then we could actually remove the shield cd for sigma.
or give sigma a different right click than a shield so that orisa can get buffed without the fear of double barrier coming back
That is also a better option. I like Sigma but his inclusion means Orisa had to be nerfed unjustly. I still advocate that he gets a reverse version of amp matrix as his alt fire. But this would be the most immediate thing they could do without braking balance.
even before sigma was out orisa was meta though, bunker was centered around orisa and her ability to replace barriers with no downtime, unlike rein who had to rest his shield to recharge
buffing orisa and nerfing sigma makes no sense but ok
Well right now they are both weak because of how Sigma is built. Orisa cannot be buffed as long as Sigma is the way he is, which means Rein will remain a must pick till they address this problem. Sigma did what launch Brig did to the game, he forced heroes that only needed slight changes to get dumpstered because of the insane level of synergy.
What if we gave sigma, sym’s photon proyector that way he still geels a bit like a tank but it wont be a stationary shield
I honestly think we should test swapping their shield hp numbers and removing the cd on Sigma’s. The main problem is he’s far too versatile for a tank. Since he can’t be a main or an off then balance him to be in the middle. Well rounded but not strong in any one direction. So he can get things done with proper skill but doesn’t enable broken combos like double shield.
One way to make all barrier tank viable is by limiting one per team, or creating more heroes that are good at breaking barriers so double barrier doesnt become a problem, or buff existing heroes at breaking barriers
Some of those heroes are Junkrat and Bastion, they could buff Junkrat dmg against barriers and Bastion already does enough dmg but… yeah
Doomfist is another hero that could work since he ignores barriers but he is struggling quite a bit
Another hero that had this ability before was Sym who could bypass barriers with her secondary before
We know they’re not going to do that. So suggest things that will work within the parameters of the current game we’re playing.
I kind of wish they were able to do what they did with the supports. Break down the main/off role so that any hero combination can function adequately.
Unfortunately, doing so with tanks means pretty much every main tank is nerfed to the point where they require coordination to push, and every off tank is reworked to negate even more damage, essentially a double-barrier comp.
The thing is we ARE almost there but the way Sigma is built is forcefully keeping some tanks weaker than others.

Roadhog is probably the most balanced tank right now.
I mean, buffing some heroes or their abilities so they work better against barriers is not really far fetched
And they are about to add a Hero that can burn barriers too, so maybe buffing Sigma and Orisa, wont be too much of an issue if we do that
Balanced as a hero, sure, but for a hero taking the second tank slot, I’m not convinced yet. Like, I don’t see Hog D.va and Hog Zarya working well. Kinda forces Hog into a permanent off-tank role.
If the roles are to be blended more, I’d see Hog as one of the first heroes changed.
The main issue with Hog is that he is an Ult Battery, they need to give him a passive that makes him give less ult charge
In a tank player’s hands Roadhog provides the second best peel tool in the game. DM being number one.
They could also revert the Symm nerfs, buff barriers a bit again and with the addition of Echo, we would have 2 barrier busters with almost 200dps beams.
They could also go for something like decreased barrier health when more than one barrier tanks on a team.
Orisa 800hp barrier solo, 600hp with another. Reduce the cooldown to 9s and buff fortify back to 50% and we’re good to go.
Sigma 1000hp barrier solo wirh increased regen rate without a cooldown.
900hp barrier with slower regen rate and the 1s cooddown.
