A Non-Nerf Solution to Genji Double Jump Debate

Make the Genji player’s camera flip over like the character does. Bet that would stop people from spamming double jump.

Most mobility characters in the game have difficult to use damage sources. Sombra has spread, she has <25m for max fall off. Tracer has <20m range. Doomfist has a shotgun and like 4 shots. Hammond, Winston, Dva all like <15m.

Genji is this weird outlier with an easy shotgun spread (alt fire), long range poke (primary fire), mobility for vertical with no cooldowns (climb+jump), then swift strike for any other mobility.

Really weird way to say it just to use the "mobility" word.

Double jump is in no way, shape or form, comparable to Blink, Ball grapple, DF RP, Winston leap or Dva propulsion. Like not even close.

The only issue comes when Genji double jumps on top of your head sure, but besides that? Easy target to hit :man_shrugging:

Know what it is close to? Hanzo lunge. Know what that has? A cooldown.

Sure, but that’s not vertical movement my dude. That lunge can get you enough range to save your life or get to cover way faster.

A double jump does not do that. You just move at the same speed. Lunge gives a speed boost. Again, its not a mobility skill really, its an evasive ability that happens to be a passive (and have no CD).

Its not double jump on its own, its all of his entire kit working together that grants him excellent mobility. Stop cherrypicking one part of my larger paragraph and look at the whole picture.

Deflect = Become a tank for 2sec.
Wall climb/Double Jump vertical mobility to let him challenge people in their face.
Alt Fire = Easy to use alt spam to avoid needing to aim well in a variety of conditions.
Primary Fire = Poke damage to challenge literally any character at range.
Swift Strike = Omnidirecitonal mobility, easy dmg, and escape option on kill.

The other characters I mentioned have good mobility, but short DPS range. Alt fire from Genji is a shotgun with no fall off meaning you get meaty damage regardless of range and consistency in burst improves as you get closer. Compared to any shotgun in this game that has huge spread AND falloff ensuring it can’t be spammed at range.

Why? It’s pretty weak because it locks you in an animation. You get punished for using t a lot against good players.

Except you can still fire, deflect, and dash. What exactly does it lock?

IDK if you noticed but the thread is LITERALLY about that. So im not cherry picking, im focusing on what is being discussed, which is not Genji’s general mobility but Double Jump only. Stop trying to add things to the pile to give more “oomph” to your point, it won’t work.

PS: Shotguns are hitscans, Genji is not.

Your…character model? And deflecting/dashing to allow you to use your jump like that is literally just burning cooldowns for no reason.

I think you just can’t hit Genji. Which is a skill issue.
