💡 A non-Mass Rez, non-60HPs idea that is both fun AND impactful!

Single Target Cast Time Resurrect:
Moved to Valkyrie (more details below)

New E ability: Biotic Beam
Cooldown: 10 seconds
Duration: 4 seconds

  • Combines both of Mercy’s beams into one single target beam
  • Increases both beams’ effectiveness to 70HP/s and 32.5% damage boost
    (any higher and Mei could oneshot squishies)

Valkyrie:

  • Duration lowered to 10 seconds
  • Now applies Biotic Beam to the primary heal target
  • Activating Biotic Beam during Valkyrie extends bonuses to all secondary beam targets for 4 seconds

Hit Q again during Valkyrie to resurrect a single teammate.

  • Cast time: 0.8 seconds
  • Resurrect range: 10 meters
  • Resurrected teammate has passive Biotic Beam bonuses applied for 4 seconds even if you are not healing them

Explanation:

Valkyrie/Resurrect
Valkrie now has more impact since target prioritization on who needs the healing most is rewarded. This change, in conjuction with having Res as part of Mercy’s ult, means a shorter ult duration is necessary to balance out the power increase.

Mercy will have much fewer resurrects per game, but each Res will beeasier to get off and each will be much more impactful due to Biotic Beam passive. Additionally, this change keeps Mercy’s iconic res as part of her kit while making it balanced.

Addition of Biotic Beam
Both other Main Healers have a Biotic E ability on a 10 second cooldown that has an AoE burst heal and damage effect, and both run their course in up to 4 seconds.

Biotic Beam is similar, except it is still single target, does not do direct damage, and does less healing than both Biotic abilities as well as both healers’ primary healing. This just gives Mercy an option to ‘hard pocket’ a teammate from burst damage without overshadowing the other main healers’ capabilities.

I spent a lot of time trying to make this both balanced and fun, as well as satisfying all camps in favor of Mercy changes (impactful res ultimate vs. those in favor of keeping Valkyrie as the ultimate). The gun and damage boost change are absolutely not needed and are the only things (including guardian angel) that do not ever need to be touched, they’re already balanced and the last thing we need is to change what’s good about mercy

biotic beam is bad,it gives mercy even less to do.

This seems like an overall nerf, plus Valkyrie still seems boring.

I disagree. It has a third of the cooldown of Resurrect and is less situational, which gives you more to do during a teamfight than Mercy’s current kit.

having to press more buttons doesnt mean you have more to do.

The little fun mercy has is in juggling her beams.

Valkyrie is boring because the automatic beams take away her ability to choose.

This would be the same for joined beams,its nothing new,its nothing exciting.

It can be strong but its not special

But you removed a layer of skill from Mercy’s kit, that is differentiating between healing and damage boosting.

I don’t like abilities that enhance her base kit, there is a lot of ideas out there for much more interesting abilities. A flat numbers increase doesn’t seem very fun.

Combined Valkyrie beams only apply to the main target for the majority of the ult, meaning heali prioritization means Mercy actually Does have to choose who recoeves the boost.

Basically a nerf. Plus, Biotic heal looks really boring to use. :eyes:

literally not. everything down to it being applied by default in Valkyrie is a rip off of the og post.

So I took a look at your thread.
You indicate a 10 percent increase, which is less healing than my idea. Your idea has a longer duration and implies that all teammates have the buffs by default in Valkyrie without activating the ability.

I literally did not see your thread (which has no feedback so its not like it was on the front page constantly) and I’m sure you’re not the first person either to suggest something similar.

I took a more thorough read of it. I read your idea now and took a second look to confirm the differences.

You and I are not the first to think of beam combination. I didn’t see your thread till now and from the looks of it no one else did either. If you have anything else to contribute that would be appreciated but if not, kindly stop trying to derail my thread.

im derailing you for calling you out for stealing ideas? sure. its just funny how you said the ideas were different in application, before you claimed to read it for the first time. almost as if you had seen it before and changed it a little, and claimed ignorance

Believe whatever you want, I didn’t see your idea before you posted here. I had this idea written up for around a week but haven’t had time till now to format it for a properly formatted post. If you want, I can scour and find threads that also suggest combining beams way before you or I posted.

I WAS going to post in your thread that you justshared to give constructive feedback, but given the demeanor of your posts here I think I’ll pass
