I think they explained it a little in the netcode video but even if something is ‘favour the shooter’ the shooters latency could still be too high and they still miss a shot they hit in their game. The favour only comes in when the actions happen at almost the same moment.
Ultimately it’s not as simple as ‘this has higher priority, it always works’, eventually the actions happen too far apart. One game takes too long to tell the server what it’s doing and if it takes too long then the server has to resolve the situation based on what it saw instead of what the client is telling it.
When a lot of the recalls get teleported back what is happening is you get stunned on the server but your game hasn’t got the message, you press recall and your game doesn’t know you are stunned so it starts the animation, the newest update comes from the server and says “you pressed recall after already being stunned, that wasn’t actually possible go back and be stunned”.
The server has to take authority and sometimes that means it has to undo an action if the action is technically impossible from the servers perspective (like recalling while already stunned).
As you’ve shown here though, it seems like Iceblock is not using favour the defender so when things happen at the same time Iceblock is unreliable
Sorry dude, but it’s time to say RIP to tracer for anyone below GM (not even a constant viable choice in gm, but situational nowadays). Maybe some masters may still pull her off in some situations. But give up if you’re below that.
This is why my first question to op what his ping was. It is possible that his ping was too high causing favor-the-player unreliable and probably even useless.
No Tracer isn’t excluded from Favor the shooter. I always play on 30 png, so that’s definitely not an issue. And as I said in the OP, I’m fine with her pulsebomb not deleting tanks. But then they added Brig into the game that made everybody on her team more tanky. So pulse bomb was hit twice both directly and indirectly. And no a pulse bomb by itself can’t kill a turreted Bastion. You’d have to unload a clip into him but that’s not really possible because of the way he’s run with his entire team on top of him.
Tracer was never good against stacked tanks and tanks is what people love to play these days.
Technically, Tracer is not weak and not many heroes can even fight back. However, tanky comps after countless healer buffs (except Nerfy) can ignore harassment from just a Tracer, so it’s not worth trying to whittle anything down and the whole playmaking potential is just not the same.
