A list of thing RQ messed up

I did not ask for anything “necessary”, you seem to have confused me with someone else. i asked for the data given your wild claim that “thousands upon thousands of role-less queue matches” happened and are of some form of importance.

“Closing down” discussions in such a way is incredibly rude and given the number of times you’ve done that to me i think you owe me an apology.

As a former pre-RQ tank player I can aver that flexing is more of a myth – and just as big of a talking point – than 5+ DPS. Most “flexing” happened after the first couple of lost fights, when your tank and support teammates suddenly received an epiphany that they needed to flex to DPS.

A long time ago I had a throwing hamster in my team, spinning near our spawn whole game. So I asked him ‘why are you doing that, dude?’ and he calmly replied ‘it takes me 1 minute to ruin 40 minutes of dps queues’. That’s when I suddenly realized how incredibly dumb role queue was and I pretty much never touched it again.

So you could add ‘increased the amount of throwers’ to your list.

By the way, the long queues aren’t dps exclusives, support queues are often unbearable too.

The problem is, role queues issues are a bit similar to cheating issues, in the sense that you need an above average intelligence to simply acknowledge them… And there are many people in this community who genuinely believe that they only meet an average of 1 cheater per year, so for them there are no cheating issues at all.

They probably don’t even see the throwers in their own games. They see 2-2-2, they’re happy. ‘2-2-2 BALANCED, 2-2-2 GOOD. THANK YOU FOR SAVING OW, BLIZZARD!! <3, NOW WHEN I PLAY MY GOLD QP GAMES AT PEAK HOURS, NO MORE 6 DPS, HAHAHA!’

given the newly added item, ie the claim that “I did not ask for anything necessary”, I will address this single new point

I was asked to provide a certain set of data

I did not provide that set of data because it wasnt necessary, and I further explained why that was the case

with that newly added item now fully clarified, I wont be responding to further discussion of this item either

I see the “6dps” argument somewhat regularly in threads liek this, and it always causes me to shake my head in disbelief

essentially, the speaker is unhappy with there being 6 dps on their team, and yet, inorder for there to be 6 dps on said team, the speaker themself has to have also chosen dps.

complaining about too many dps yet choosing dps when there are already 5 dps on the team?

Imo, one really cant legitimately make this complaint yet choose the 6th dps, or vice versa.

One or the other. not both.

Not a valid point

Children like this are going to find some reason to ruin games. 100% guarantee this person throws other games for ridiculous reasons.

So RQ didn’t turn more players into throwers, they made the throwers that already existed more blatant.

IMO this entire thread is yelling at RQ players for wanting to play a hero with a relatively normal team comp on both teams. Yeah, I’ll wait 20 mins to have a 10 min game of quality comp, and spend the 20 mins playing custom games to have fun, rather than play 20 mins of a chaotic mess, and wait 10 mins alt tabbed watching YT or something.

I just want to play a hero that I want to play, and be guaranteed that I’ll have a balanced team comp to support it. RQ was godsend. It was LFG but with less social interaction, and faster.

Why does it matter what other people do? I can’t change what they do. I can only change what I do. It can be as little as them picking a hero that has suboptimal compatibility with my hero, to the enemy hacking. It doesn’t matter.

Above average intelligence? More like above average desire to control others.

So instead of complaining to Devs who take forever to change anything, and wait who knows how long, I can just get better at the game and rank up way quicker. Not only is this mindset more conducive to ranking up, its also much more fun, and less stressful. I never leave a game annoyed or feeling like crap, because I only care about what I could do better. It doesn’t matter if I win or lose, there’s always something I can do better.

Yeah, it would be nice if people stopped throwing, or hacking or just being annoying. But with how irresponsive the Devs are, there’s practically nothing we can do about it. Its much more valuable to worry about my quality of gameplay than everyone else’s.

Yeah just about every pro pushed for it and so did 2/3 of the playerbase… what do they know

Simple fact is it’s a trade off, and if OQ was so good we’d have never had a need to even consider RQ to start.

Yes, you lose some things with OQ, you also gain things with RQ and lose some. But the majority agree more is gained than lost with RQ.

Based Hamster doing God’s work.

He also mentioned that balance is off in OQ due to favoring balance around RQ.

  • The introduction of an MMORPG party style role queue introduces long queue times. Traditionally tanks have always been the least popular role. Priority passes are a good thing but it doesn’t solve the core issue, we only slowed down the inevitable.
  • Giving the tank and support roles the least amount of heroes. These players are stuck with so very little to work with.
  • Failing to balance the tank role. There was a huge distinction between Main Tank & Off Tank. A cry for shields became more apparent as well and many players became too reliant on it instead of having better positioning and using cover (if any existed in the older maps).
  • Made double shield more prevalent which made battles more stationary.
  • The introduction of Role Queue majorly split the community, Open Queue enjoyers left and moved on. By then, the damage has already been done. It’ll be harder to regain their trust after being abandoned, even if they would eventually reintroduce Open Queue. Furthermore, we are continuing to split the community with the introduction of 5v5/6v6, PvE/PvP, Competitive/Casual, & Comp/Quickplay. All these will increase queue times or affect the population.
  • Balancing Open Queue based on Role Queue because Role Queue is the official OWL mode.

These were mistakes that I thought of, they really didn’t think of the consequences thoroughly enough.

Said data is necessary to prove that your claim is true, thus we can conclude that said claim is unverified and potentially just made up.

No, it doesn’t. Nothing rewards one-tricking. You play Rein into Symm the whole game, you’re just gonna feed her charge. You play snipes into two shields, you’re not gonna push anything.

The what? You or your teammates being countered? Cause if I see a Symm turret, first thing I do is swap of my Rein into a Winston. If your teammates are getting countered whole game it’s not “toxic” to want them to switch, especially if you say how their character is not doing the team any favors in that game.

Here come all the people bringing up the 5 DPS, but I’ve won games with 6 DPS on the team and just grabbed medpacks or stood on the payload for heals.

No, they won’t. You sill have so many combinations of characters. Yeah, I’ve got favorite picks for maps, like Hammond on Eichenwalde, but you can still pick something different.

What? That hasn’t been a thing since like 2018 or something. No one’s even staying for the next match. People just leave and queue up again. It doesn’t take two hours to do that.

The what? You can’t change a role mid-game yourself, doesn’t matter if you’re in a group.

DPS is not the “most fun” role.

That it does. And then they just keep playing like they’re DPS.

Yeah, but it’s buried in the arcade and you have to know it’s there. OW2 finally fixes that and makes it a sub-mode of “unranked”.

This is again one of those “RQ bad OQ good” threads isnt it… let it be. OQ is in the game and is also in the beta. Stop crying. Its impossible to balance OQ really because 1 shield cant be to weak while 3 cant be to strong. They are not allowed to be in the same system so OQ failed because of it.

If you start limiting roles you destroy the purpose of OQ and just have RQ with extra steps.

Lol, you are wrong…

I know of no valid data to support this claim

…same here. No valid data I know of that supports the claim

Okay? So what’s your problem?

Is this just a vague “I don’t like role queue” thread? I don’t like open queue. Agree to disagree?

Open que exist, play it.

There is a role-less queue mode in the game, yes

However, it isnt the same game as the 222 mode games even if one excludes the necessary queuing differences

There are many other differences between the two, and as such, one is not an equivalent substitute for the other

No one listens to you anymore.

Honestly the maps in OW2 just show that cover never existed before, its baffling how much easier it is to use cover in OW2 because it actually exists now.
