6v6 was bad and unfixable

Why does people keep forgetting about this? Honestly i’d rather keep this format instead of them reverting every changes and come back to 6v6 by causing a massive unbalance issues and folks complaining.

I don’t see why you guys would want 6v6 back besides having one more person on your team to complain about

Nothing is unfixable; however, I am not really sure Blizzard would be up for the task.

My unpopular opinion is that you had more impact in 6v6 strictly because your bad teammates had less impact. If that makes any sense. I believed 5v5 would let you be more impactful and I was wrong. It just does not play out that way in practice. That being said, having impact is a bit overrated. Another unpopular opinion, surely.

Because I had a lot of fun playing in that format for years.

No analysis needed on my part.

5v5 feels like a deathmatch, everyone said this since day one of ow2. It lost the teamplay, it lost the combos, it lost everything. Overwatch peaked in ow1, imagine what it would have looked like it was F2P back then. Troll post

Barely changes at all

Did for me. I enjoy the game much less than I did before.

How?

I get bored faster, I play on fewer days because I don’t even expect it to feel as exciting, stuff like that. Just less fun, idk what to tell ya.

“6v6 was bad and unfixable”

Meanwhile 5v5 had huge fundamental changes to gameplay and design since it’s launch

  • Role Passives - all of which gets frequently adjusted
  • Several hero reworks - some of which had back to back reworks
  • Removal of CC - but we’ve gone full circle and we’re back to having nearly the same amount of CC again
  • Raid boss tanks
  • CC working differently against Tanks vs DPS and Support
  • Armor rework
  • Increased HP

All of these changes in a span of 1 year and 7 months and 5v5 is STILL worse than 6v6.

OW1 in 6v6 barely had this much fundamental changes in it’s entire lifespan, the most notable was Role Queue.

I don’t think 6v6 is unfixable. I think 222 RQ was, though. The devs looking at alternatives to 222 RQ less than six months after its release kinda points to how disastrous it was.

Only because you’re using the term honestly. “Impact” is like “skill” or “balance”. A lot of people use these terms to mask the idea that only they themselves should be killing it out there, not those jerks on red team. Stupid crappy idiot babies on red team, always resorting to unbalanced, unskilled, free value characters. Not like me. Ha ha ha.

Mei’s been a high impact DPS on her maps for yonks. Ice wall can be terrifying. But she’s never had a high pick rate because like you say, impact does not necessarily equal fun.

Laughs in Counterwatch being unfixable and the tank queue times will continue to bleed

Howdy! I disagree.

I recommend checking out the 6v6 discord and seeing for yourself.

They have completely rebalanced the game and it’s honestly quite amazing.

Mainly people talk about it because 5v5 is worse.

Lower player population. Top 500 starting in Diamond, the ow staff getting fired.

The results speak for itself.

But it is fun watching the devs throw everything in desperation to try to fix their 5v5 problem and still fall flat.

This is not Overwatch 1.

Tanks are redesigned and the role plays very differently as a big fat dps. Even in 6v6’s worst state, it was never as terribly imbalanced as 5v5 is right now.

Blizz’s product development is like the Xzibit meme of video gaming. Yo dawg I heard you like patches. So here’s a patch to patch the previous patch that patched some other patch that will patch this patch’s patch.

I don’t want to read a single letter on this paragraph because every single letter is going to be wrong.

Good job playing into their hands. 5v5 is poop and has peaked (a low peak). Look back at what peak OW1 was like. Blizzard has no solution in sight for 5v5. They will keep power creeping and have no idea where to go from here.
Can people enjoy this version of the game? Sure. But there is no way it will ever get significantly better. The format is dogwater. This right here, is what you get. And nothing more. :mask: have fun

Arguably it is easier to balance 2-2-2 than 1-2-2 for a shooter hero format due to the demand on one tank.
Otherwise you end up losing your grip on what the game was meant to be (an fps where you could counterplay/make a play on any of 6 heroes) and turn it into a first person moba (like we have now) where it’s viable to shoot at like 4 squishies max with limited options and gameplay dictated by op abilities and hero picks over player agency.

6v6 could have been saved. If not for the immediate and huge surge of trust in high ranking players who “knew what they were talking about”. Those same players that were slowly killing off the game by making tanks individually worse (in a game that needs 4 tanks to start a match).

It absolutely could have been saved. Blizzard just put their faith in the wrong people.

5v5 is bsd and unfoxable. 6v6 waz at least more enjoyable. The only ones acting deluded are 5v5 people who keep telling us how poorly 6v6 was balanced as of we live in some ow utopia where 5v5 doesnt have fires it constantly needs to put out

6v6 was bad and unfixable

Oh no, we need to report this to Marvels immediately!
