Season 1: 17W, 11L, 0D | 60.7% winrate
Season 2: 115W, 78L, 2D | 58.9% winrate
Season 3: 31W, 22L, 0D | 58.5% winrate (so far)
Just yesterday I hit GM5 (playing doomfist only), up from Masters 2. 50/50 winrate is not real, BUT…
You are going to lose matches that you shouldn’t have. You are going to win matches that you shouldn’t have. There are going to be games where you play horribly and games where you are insane.
But even then, winrate is much less of a factor in your rank than performance, at least based on my experience. You can often go 5W and 5-8L and still rank up.
Don’t get caught up on W/L. That was a thing in OW1. In OW2, the more important thing is to focus on your performance. If you are doing “good” (objectively) in most of your matches, you’re probably going to climb.

If you were never GM or even close to GM in ow1 then you were just blessed by the mmr. It’s boosting lots of players and cursing others.

Here’s the thing…
It’s based on engagement, so it’s not the same for everyone. Your experience will not be the same as the next person. Gold is not Gold for everyone. Gold for some people are actually try hard Diamond level games full of better players, all canceling each other out thanks to the matchmaker. Gold for other people means they get to sit around and type in the chat while going 3 kills with 16 deaths and still win about half their games.
From everything I’ve seen an tested across multiple accounts… it does screw you over if you’ve won too much. Unless you’re GM. Except even now there are Top 500 players saying it’s rigged and they’re getting absolutely terrible teammates as the system tries to screw them over for the sake of “fairness” which is essentially trying to force everyone to 50% even if Blizz doesn’t say that’s that’s the goal.

I’m at 38% win rate since the start of season 3 and the matchmaker “improvements”. I really am not enjoying the game. At one point I had a run of 11 straight losses, but even if you ignore that entire streak (which you shouldn’t do) it’s still only a 42% winrate.
Can we have forced 50% winrate please?

So a top level player who can solo most tiers and 1 v 5 says forced winrate is not real?
I’ve got a 55% winrate as tank and you absolutely can see when the matchmaker gives you winstreaks and they turns around and forced a losing streak.

I’d bet literally every dollar I have that if I was given one of those hardstuck gold accounts I could climb it with literal ease I was a 1100sr tank at one point now I’m on the fringe of top 500 I’ve been through every rank and have 1 account

That’s the thing. I 100% believe you can. You have the skill to counter what the game considers balanced for a team comp.
This is the difference between a GM player and a metal ranked player. Watch some videos on FIFA players vs 25 kids. It’s the same thing.
Next question is can you grind to Top 10? What happens when you stop winning? Report then and we can see if your matches are balanced or forced.

The issue isn’t reaching your max potential. It’s the quality of the matches. When everything is stomp win/stomp loss this is not a good matchmaker.
You also avoided the call out that your profile is private. If your going to say something don’t hide it.

Your rank is based on your performance compared to the population of players. The reason why you are feeling this (and GM’s don’t) is simply because you are not a GM level player. Simply put, you aren’t good enough. At the end of the day, you need to remember that all these skill divisions (Gold, Plat, Diamond, etc.) are a representation of YOUR skill, and so being at a 50/50 winrate most likely means that you are at your level.
The game gives you opportunities to fight higher ranked players, as well as lower ranked players to get a better idea of if you actually belong. How do I know this? Because it has happened to me. In Masters 2, I played with GM1 players, and even popular twitch streamer “BastionMain”. As long as you perform well in these games, the matchmaker will see that you are capable of playing alongside a higher ranked player, and will attempt to move your rank towards that (as long as your performance is continuous in matches afterward).

I have proven that false on my dps this season, maining Junkrat with 39% win rate and 1.5 KD. Yet still at my peak rank in ow2 on dps. I believe at this point not even the devs really know how their ranking system works.
Since you seem to understand this system more than I do, do you mind hoping on my thread and running through the numbers and giving me a bit of an explanation so I am not entirely bamboozled by what is happening to my rank. When you post I will give you a breakdown of my actual stats Kills/Deaths etc. The post name is “Um….what the actual ____”
