Hello, I’m trying to climb to masters but the ranking system is messed up and I don’t understand why. I played 6 games, won 5 and got 1 tie and i derank from diamond 5 to plat 1. Then, I win another 5 games in a row without losing a single game and go up a single rank. Why is this happening, I feel like this is just unfair.
hope this helps.
its possible the one game you lost was heavily weighted in your favor to win. meaning let’s say you were rated 3000 SR (D5) and so was your team. You probably were facing a “plat 5” avg skill lobby or something but the other team is all gold 5s and you guys still ended up losing. (bit of an extreme example) but in that case you’d lose A LOT more SR than normal for a loss… - imagine a team mate of yours was throwing or if some one left the game.
Conversely your 5 wins were probably much the same except you won. and because you beat a bunch of lower ranked players you didn’t win much SR per win.
So 5 matches won where you didn’t get much SR gained… + 1 loss where you lost a ton.
But i didn’t lose a game it was a tie, so that shouldn’t affect the SR. Also, the lobbies that i’ve played in are from D5 to D3. I understand what your trying to say, it’s just still doesn’t make sense to me how I’m not gaining much SR when I’m playing in higher ranked lobbies.
well shiiiiet I’m clueless then. I have no idea how you could have ranked down…
yea me neither, its just so stupid, it’s literally impossible to climb. I’m not losing a single game and I get a single tier rank up. Thank you for explaining, I played OW1 so I’m a little familiar with how it worked, but it still confused me as to why my rank is barely moving after winning 5 in a row.
my only guess is maybe since they got rid of rank decay this season there is some shenanigans going on with trying to ‘reset’ peoples rank without having it disappear over night? idk but even that doesn’t make too much sense since you’d think peoples rank would have gone up, not down after that… idk,
Indeed, the conditions available to derank seem to outweight the requirements to rank up.
It deranked me from a positive win rate too. My win rate was positive this entire season. I’m taking a long break. I think it’s bugged. It’s also really hard to rank up on my account.
It’s clear it’s broken. It’s been broken since day one. All sorts of issues they generally just say are “visual” only, but considering the developers lie about everything else I don’t see why ranked would be any different.
I’ve ranked up on losses and down on wins. It doesn’t make much sense at all. My lowest rank has been bronze 1 and my highest #43 in EU. Honestly there’s very little difference between the two. It seems very few know how to play the game anymore, even at the top end of the ladder they treat it like a deathmatch.
It’s really not worth your time.
It is unfair. It’s also why the matchmaking is such garbage. It’s why there are Plat players in GM when they play like garbage. It should be you win you go up and you lose you go down. Unfortunately it’s not so straight forward.
