I firmly believe the Blizzard developers and execs are in full panic mode and are enacting “one final cash grab” before Microsoft steps in and overhauls the company.
Sadly, many here will feed their wallets because they’re addicts.
My recommendation is to get out while your wallet and sanity are still intact. Rip off the figurative “Band-Aid” now and it will be less painful than when you’ve invested $200 on 3 skins, which is exactly what Blizzard wants so that you stay addicted because of your financial investment.
As of now, any addiction to this game is experiential and not financial. I’m telling you, now is the time to escape this franchise and break your addiction. If you choose to wait for the inevitable monetization scheme to hit, you’re going to find it all the more difficult to quit.
The only thing that will change is that there are extra skins and currency for OW in the gamepass. Nothing else will change. Kind of funny that you think that.
What the hell does that even mean? Why are you pretending to understand what’s going on in the company? Microsoft can’t even control 343 from flopping with Halo infinite
343 went the same “monetize everything” route that OW2 appears to be headed.
Microsoft doesn’t want to be fronting money for multiple failing game developers. It’s no secret Blizzard has a myriad of issues and I’d fully expect Microsoft to be watching them like a hawk.
When one of their most profitable titles inevitably flops come October, they’re 100% stepping in and overhauling leadership.
thats pretty much the gist of it. you are responsible for your own actions. blizzard can price skins for 2000 bucks if they want and if you buy its on you lol. i dont think there will ever be laws against microtransactions in the united states.
Overwatch took a significant portion of my sanity and began crippling my gaming relationships. Realizing that the game is intentionally designed to impart anxiety and toxicity provided me the clarity I needed to quit.
I’m only grateful that I didn’t spend any significant money (all in all between the game and some OWL skins less than $60), otherwise I’d feel pressured to continue playing.
And this is exactly what Blizzard wants moving forward with OW2. They want players financially invested so they cannot quit without remorse or anxiety like they’re financially losing. It’s one of the many reasons the Battle Pass design is so successful.
This game will continue sapping players of their sanity but now to further complicate their designed addiction it will also hit them financially.
For anyone and everyone out there on the fence or struggling they seriously need to leave this franchise now before it gets worse.
