4 new heroes in Marvel Rivals for Season 1

I’m rofl because you can’t understand how freaking awesome this is.

Yes, if the team locks in, they could absolutely speed up content, balance bozos like you aside.

I think that’s a good idea how they did it but, it also contributes to the feel that there aren’t many maps. Being able to get the same map/mode several times in a row doesn’t help either. I’ve queued into the same map in QP and Competitive multiple times before. My biggest streak was 7 consecutive games on Klyntar.

We only have 5 locations - Wakanda, Asgard, Tokyo 2099, Klyntar, and Hydra Base. The first three of those locations are then split into the two game modes which gives us 8 maps to play on. Maybe there are more for the arcade modes? I played Arcade once for an achievement and it was a separate Tokyo 2099 deathmatch map.

So I’m fine with them re-using assets but, like you said, we need more locations. It’s something launch Overwatch did better than Rivals. Many unique feeling locations. I heard rumors there will be more added to Rivals soon, New York included.

He is fun to play. His sound design and voice work is so satisfying. You feel really powerful when using him and that counts for a lot. But fighting him is a bit of a drag. You have to play Ana to anti him so he can be killed. Also his optimal gameplay reduces to “Shoot the enemy tank” or you fall pretty fast. That’s why people say he’s has a brain-dead playstyle.

The differences between Rivals heroes aren’t nearly as meaningful as in OW. They’re largely interchangeable in Rivals. For better or worse, it’s a more casual game, but don’t mistake its norms as practical for OW. We’re a much, much deeper game.

That was before 5v5 and the OW2 heroes who are just bunch of stolen abilities from existing heroes.

Oh wow, it’s almost like season 1 is supposed to attract as many players as possible. Tell me how many characters are added in a season a year from now. Guess we forgot how OW"2" had three charcaters in season 1, huh?

It’s official for the Fantastic 4 crew : Twitter announcement

Smart idea to release that many heroes at once.

However, it’s not comparable to the amount of work the OW team team puts (or at least used to put) into one hero in terms of design, voicelines, lore, trailer, animated short, dubbing in different languages etc…

Also, Marvel Rivals community isn’t as toxic as the OW community when it comes to complaining about balance issues. People just enjoy the game, as long as it feels “brand-new”… but I don’t doubt things will go for the worse in a few months.

Rivals is buns, sorry not sorry.

just watched sty’s most recent video and he says perhaps something like 6-8 maps

basically its sounding more and more like theyre just finishing the release of the game than than updating it…get as much out before christmas and then the stuff that isnt quite ready we’ll throw out for season “1” (as opposed to 1 being at launch even though comp exists)

doubt season 2 looks anything like this

It would make a ton of sense since it’s called “Season 0” currently lmao.

I think one important factor in that case is that for Marvel Rivals they can choose from an existing big selection of characters and a possible moveset while Blizzard starts with just an idea and then take their time thinking about what kind of hero and moveset would be interesting, cool, fun and then make concepts, brainstorm, etc. until they are ready to go into production.
I personally don´t mind the breaks they have between new maps/heroes as I like to take my time trying out and learning what they have to offer.

Keep in mind that OW2 heroes are all original design where MR heroes have already existed for decades in some cases. Blizzard has a much harder job when it comes to making new heroes.

Hey, if you don’t care about balance, yeah, it’s awesome. I’m not saying it’s not. Arcade games are fun. I’m just saying that it is ridiculous if you are trying to take the game seriously.

OW2 could probably release 20 heroes tomorrow and you would love it…apparently, lol.

Not entirely right in itself since we’ve seen unoriginal kits with original hero designs.

But it’s not like they don’t have anything currently… there’s plenty of things they built in OW1 and I’m positive they have some heroes roaming nearby.

There’s also the scraps content of Project Titans they could use.

Blizzard also had a lot of heroes that old lore team created but was not used so far.
We had a lot of concept art/ideas already in pre-alpha/beta of overwatch and titan.
Then we had a story related character like d.va meca squad, maximilien…

I feel it is more a pipeline problem. We had some leaks of Junker Queen maybe in the second year of overwatch 1. She was in development for a very long time. I think also that a lot of development time went into reworks for character that could have been completely new heroes instate.

It just feels like that the team put to much on their plate and nothing got finished in the end.

In setting, you can toggle “Easy Swing” off so you aim your anchor point then face the direction you want to swing
Same but different name of option for Venom

Aesthetically true, but IDK about the characters’ ability diversity

OFC MR’s is to be observed. I wouldn’t be very surprised some of the new characters will have some homogeneity

No at all.

It would make sense if it was only 1 hero post launch at a snail pace like Blizzard (small indie company) and the OW devs have always done.

4 new heroes? Thats insane. And leakers said Blade and Ultron are possibly coming too in the same season.

It just goes to show that Overwatch/Blizzard as a dying Ip that simply cant compete against the bulk of the Marvel franchise and the budget of Netease.

In exchange, there is no balance

Also probably characters that were ready at release but weren’t released at release
