3 games in a row with leavers , fix your bullcrap game

Q 17 minutes YES GAMETIME , enemy team losing first point = match canceled.
Q 15-20 minutes again 1 in my team leaves match canceled
Q 20 minutes Third bullcrap game enemy lose first point , leaves = match canceled
CAN YOU FIX THIS PROBLEM ALREDY?

The only fix I could think of is increasing the penalty for leaving. There’s no way to compel players to stay in a match because they can always just turn their devices off or DC.

It’s been 3 years of Leavers, Mkay. It’s not going to change. Mainly due to Blizzard being far too soft on punishments for breaking the rules.

Move on to another game. Many are.

There is a fix. If someone leaves, put the remaining 11 players in a sort of isolated queue and just find 1 more person with appropriate mmr to fit into that match, and then just restart the match. Don’t make everyone in the lobby queue again.

That’s not a bad idea. Creative thinking.

cap first point quickly
someone on the enemy team leaves
match restarted

or…
push payload almost to the end
someone enemy team leaves
match restarted

or even…
long control point match
someone disconnects
already long match is restarted
team that was winning begins to lose and feels cheated out of their win

I’m sorry I wasn’t very clear in my post.
The match restarting suggestion is meant only for those situations where someone leaves during hero selection screen before the match even properly begins, or maybe during the first minute of the match.

Unless some decent progress on the objective has been made. Say at least a tick on assault/hybrid maps, a point capture on control, or an x amount of meters payload movement on escort maps.

It still has a lot of problems.

The level of effort required to develop such a system would be a lot of work for the relatively small benefit of decreasing queue time by a small amount for people who had their matches cancelled by an early leaver (which doesn’t happen often).

Even if the dev team decided they wanted to create a system like that it begs the question: “What if people leave during this isolated queue?”. It’s entirely possible that someone might spend several minutes waiting in the queue before deciding they would rather just enter a normal queue or maybe they just don’t want to play with the people in that match.

If you’re already grabbing people from the normal queue to complete the match then you might as well just run these people through the normal queue anyway.

You have a valid point, it is a pretty complicated system which would of course have it’s own issues.

At the end of the day, the current system used to work just fine until 2-2-2.
It still works fine for tank and support players.

The only people who really suffer when someone leaves during the first minute which cancels the match are dps players.
They often need to wait an extra 10 to 30 minutes for a new match, or even longer depending on rank and time of day.

Needs to be a faster q after leaver in first couple minutes that cancels game.

I’m sure it’s pretty bad to wait in a 10 minutes queue and then get a leaver, but I don’t think warping the queue system is going to work. If there was an easy solution Blizz would have implemented it already.

I personally think the best way to resolve the situation is to add more “fat dps” tanks and get more people interested in tanking.

Its not only way to fix this lol. There is very simple solution to this problem. Let 11 people stay and recreate game after you will find 1 missing.

Simply find 1 insted of finding all 12 again.

If anyone would leave in it, he will get -50.

Why would anyone want to leave game after several minutes he was waiting for it just when he would find game. It doesnt make sense, finding one player would be practicaly instant or few seconds as you are searching only for one.

Imagine a reason why someone would leave a normal queue and you have all the reasons you need for why someone might leave an isolated queue. Theoretically would you punish someone for leaving a 15 minute queue 5 minutes in?

Maybe they get tired- maybe they want a different role- maybe they just want to quit.

Before you say “the queue wouldn’t be 15 minutes”-
It can be if the player who leaves is a tank and you’re in a high rank, but you shouldn’t design a system that merely hopes a certain situation doesn’t happen. If you’re going to be locking people into a queue with no punishment-free way out then you’d best prepare for every possible situation.

I know the idea here is to reduce the frustration of people who have their matches cancelled, but locking literally everyone else into a queue and punishing them for leaving is much worse.

I feel you, been sitting in 40 minute queues yesterday due to a leaver (:

Priority que shouldve been a thing fron the beginning.

Not every leaver does so intentionally.

It’s bad enough that people who unintentionally disconnect get penalised at all. Increasing the penalty is not the answer.

I’ve long said backfill needs to be added to Competitive:

It’s in other game modes already; why not the one that’s meant to be taken seriously?

I dont get you man, why would someone want to leave a game he just found after several minutes. If you changed your mind and dont want to play comp, leave the damn queue, dont wait after you find game lol.

I mean, i do know people leave games after its created, that why we are talking about this in the first place. But if you have already leaver, chance someone else suddendly need to leave is astronomicly low.

If you are not prepared to play comp, dont play comp at all.

You answered your own question!
We don’t want backfills in competitive because it’s supposed to be taken seriously.

It’s not a problem if someone backfills in quickplay because it’s quickplay, but having someone backfill into a serious competitive match would be a nightmare.
What if they’re better than the person who left?
What if they’re worse than the person who left?
What if they connect just as the match is ending?
How are we supposed to calculate their SR in such a situation?

Would you consider it acceptable for a random person to fill the role of a missing player in a pre-made tournament?

There’s no way to know the difference between a leaver and a genuine disconnect. A genuine disconnect still deserves punishment either way. If you can’t reliably connect to matches and finish them without disconnecting then you should not be playing competitive.

Because the queue is pre-game. If you’re locked into a queue then that’s an additional (x) minutes on top of the potentially (y) minutes long match. If you can imagine a reason why someone would leave a normal queue then you can apply it here. If you’re going to lock people into the game then you have to consider every possible situation.

It would be silly to force people to play a match where a player disconnects in the first 10 seconds. You could say stuff like “why would someone disconnect right after finding a match?” but the reason doesn’t matter- only the result.
