222 Role Que saved the game for me personally

just finished my placements

what a splendid experience it was

  • i think i had 2 off tanks possibly 2-3 times in 15 games which was absolutely fine. had orisa more than i did sigma and also saw alot of rein/zarya.
  • seen quite alot of moiras but they all seemed to heal quite well in my experience. seen ana/lucio just as much
  • had a couple games with bad dps but still managed to win by switching within our roles to output more damage
  • managed to overcome an attack pharmercy comp without a hitscan with me on baptiste and the off-tank on dva. (all heroes can be countered or denied value across all 3 roles)
  • my dps que times were not too bad. longest was 8minutes, shortest was 2minutes. i just did other things whilst queing.
  • DPS was a breath of fresh air to play without the constant worry of losing your tanks/healers.
  • same goes for healer and tank. was nice not having to worry about people switching roles and creating instability in the comp
  • didnt come across this ‘increased toxicity’ that im seeing people talk about. infact i didnt come across any1 being toxic in my 15 games.
  • seen lots of diversity and lots of creativity within team comps despite the constant threads complaining that the comps will become dull and unfun.
  • seen ALOT more team-oriented gameplay due to imo 2-2-2 being alot more teamwork-based than multi dps comps. the 2 tanks hold/creating space whilst the healers keep them up and the DPS utilize it to get kills.

this game is easily my favorite when % of synergies, combos and general team oriented gameplay is at its highest so ive been happy with the outcome of role lock thus far.

all in all - im extremely excited for the future of overwatch.
role que has saved the game for me personally and also hero balance seems to be very good too atm, lots of DPS are viable, lots of tanks are viable and every healer is viable. love to see it.

Number one: Certain maps I like to heal on, certain tank, certain dps. Simple as that. With this system OW should also release the option of picking what map you want to play.

Number two: I have actual friends I play this game with, some of us are better (again) on certain maps on different roles, atm we will be locked into a roll not knowing what map we’re getting. Which isn’t fun.

Number three: When playing with these friends we already have established that some of us are better at certain heroes than other. For example midgame enemyteam swaps to a phara, one of us that is playing dps isnt a good hitscan, he says lets swap, we swap so he takes support and I go hitscan. Ects, ACTUAL teamplay to counter out what the enemy team has and us playing together as a team.

-> This makes me feel like you should have atleast 2 flex roles, like we had in the previous groupfinder. Or the option to go into comp, with roleque OR without it. And take your risks with that.

Number four: I do understand if you’re soloqueing all day long WITHOUT friends that you get tilted getting 4dpses, because I also soloque on my main(3750ish support). And i get those teams a lot. But I also get the 1 tank, 3 dps, 2 support team. Which is a comp I personally LOVE, because of my love for Mercy. It’s pretty much the only comp I feel like I’m valuable in when playing her atm. And now this will make that completely ruined for me.

Number Five: Sometimes i like to play a different role on Attack vs Defense. A lot of the time, the comp still ended up with 222, but we changed up who played what role. Cant do that in the new system.

Main point that I want to get across is that it sucks not being able to swap classes with teammates who actually play as a team when it’s needed. The way the game is supose to be played. Communication and swapping heroes when they aren’t working. I am however well aware that this is hard if you are soloqueing with incompetent people, but you can’t always get lucky.

IN SHORT TERMS:
-> Make 2-2-2 roleque optional.
-> the ones who wants locked roles, go ahead, the ppl who likes a gamble, take the other option. No roleque.
-> If the above isn’t an option, consider adding flex role.
-> Consider option of having “map selection”.

same but im more than willing to adapt for the better of the game.

another case of having to adapt. in fact your whole post is really just about not wanting to adapt to the new system. yes, it hits groups the hardest for sure but the largest portion of the playerbase is definitely solo players and blizzards failure to implement guilds or encourage stacking means they are clearly marketing it more towards solo players.

The case of making role que optional is extremely flawed due to splitting the player base and making que times a massive issue.
