"2 awesome exclusive legendary skins"

So I suppose that OW2 has not only “rewritten the meaning of sequel” (quoting), but also changed what was once the “obvious” logic of those who pre-ordered to get skins like Widowmaker Noire. Or those who bought the blizzcon virtual ticket for a blizzcon skin.

perfect, folks. we can totally trust the term “exclusive” when we’re told it and today we see those same exclusives coming back on sale. :+1: don’t worry about buying the next blizzcon virtual ticket this year for fear of missing out on an exclusive: you won’t lose anything that you can’t get in the near future.

Unless they specifically state that Blizzcon cosmetics won’t be re-released then I’ll probably skip this year’s virtual ticket. I mean what’s the point if there is a decent chance of them coming back in the free Credit shop in a future season lol. It will just be a waste of money.

Not to mention the fact that watching Blizzcon will be entirely free this year, so the only incentive to purchase the virtual ticket will be the in-game rewards from now on.

World of Warcraft just did a Ukraine charity campaign and they explicitly told us at the top of this article that these chairty pets will never come back. If a disclaimer such as this is not seen anywhere for the 2023 Blizzcon rewards then yeah, I’d rather wait and not risk wasting $50 - $60 on the virtual ticket annually.

I’m just here to preemptively call out and shame the inevitable drone who comes here to dishonestly say “But you got to equip the skins a year early1!11!!” as if a single person would willingly pay $40 for early access to a free skin

Possibly because it didn’t sell well.

Reason #738465 why you shouldn’t be spending actual money for skins anyway…it’s always highway robbery

Oh. So now we’re implying that people bought that pack for the exclusive skins?

That’s funny considering about a year ago it seemed like we were saying people bought that pack for access to the final beta.

Honestly, with blizz’s track record with “this is exclusive”, I’m surprised people haven’t learned.

They’ve done with heroes of the storm
They’ve done it with WoW
And I think they’ve done with with Diablo (or maybe I’m thinking of crossover stuff with wow).

This wouldn’t be acceptable for any other community, but blizz shills always whip out the “But you got it early” excuse.

We need more heavy regulation on video game companies.

It became clear that exclusivity means nothing in the moment when they added the hots skins to the game for free.

Hahaha we believed Blizzard when they used campaign mode to advertise OW2’s launch when they’d known for a year that it would never come.

There are folks who still believe quick play when it says “jump into a game against other players of your skill.”

Oh gosh, is Blizzard maybe… super-consistent about straight-up lying?

And just think. There was a time when they didn’t need to. Thanks, Kotick!

Guess what? There are people willing to drop thousands of dollars on gacha games, just to trick out their waifus well ahead of everyone else playing “cheap2play” or entirely free2play. Forty dollars is just a drop in the bucket in comparison for big spender “gotta have it all” types, so you better believe there are plenty of people eager to part with their money. Why do they do it? For their own personal amusement and gain over others, even if the advantage—which can be entirely “just cosmetic” in the case of Overwatch cosmetics—is for a limited time before others catch up. That’s the point of being sold on monetarily supporting pay2win gaming. You have the option to just keep paying to keep “winning.” Because by the time the poor and cheapskate players get their grubby hands on ownership of the cool stuff you already have as a paid user, that stuff will be old and boring—and there is always something hot, new, and exciting being released! So long as you’ve got the money, you can easily gratify yourself with the flashiest stuff, being the ever standout trend setter amongst your envious peers.

I don’t think the skins of the Watchpoint pack were meant to be “forever exclusive” to that pack, nor does Blizzard seem to favor making only such exclusives, or see if there is just much demand from their playerbase to make one-time, “never sold again” commodities. I do think the D.Va skin partnership that can only be bought with a specific pair of designer sunglasses—and advertised as being a limited production run—is their more recent attempt to formally probe the community for a response towards such unique one-offs however. I believe Noire Widow was truly meant to incentivise people to prepurchase the OG Overwatch at the time. Pink Mercy was for charity and wearing it showed your support for the cause, and Demon Hunter Sombra proved people don’t read fine print, but these skins seem to be springboarding this idea and demand for “value of exclusive ownership” because of “HAHA! I got mine and you didn’t!” A mindset for a competitive shooter I personally find to be baffling.

people who then, when they were disappointed with the beta, had the right to a refund. info on how much were 2000 coins really worth in the BP club game? literally two days before the release of OW2 via content creators, not even via specs from the developers.

So yes, it was a bit mostly due to the exclusivity that the skins seemed to represent. you know, you don’t spam “the exclusive term” by accident.

…so does the fact of never speaking intelligibly about what plans they have for the skins clear Blizzard of that one time they actually said “exclusive”?

ok, maybe it might bother people to stick to grammatical constraints… but we are also the ones who continually justify that Sombra Demon hunter wasn’t a total exclusive because it was written somewhere that she would return. Where was it written in the term “exclusive” here?

okay so people paid $40 to play a beta for a free to play game?

Least delusional ana main

To be fair… They actually did. I am not sure if you were around during that time; however, people were genuinely proud that they paid $40 for beta access. People warned them and in response, they… Wanted to buy another Watchpoint Pack? Not even kidding.

People are mad when skins are exclusive.

People are mad when skins are not exclusive anymore.

People are mad when skins are only available with OW2 coins.

People are mad when some skins are available with OW1 coins/credits.

I do like both skins, but I ain’t getting none of them because I don’t want people to think I paid 40$ for the Watchpoint Pack lol

Nobody will think that now that they are free.

its funny that they made some anniversary skins unavaible before event
also its pissing of me when i see that only possibility to buy skins from shop with free credits is from anniversary tab
Personally for me blizzard doesn’t care about their community as everyone thought they are going to.
Most people thought that each week they are gonna bring to anniversary tab skins from events that are going during specific week but they bringed random skins from shop

but on the other side, if you do buy them now it has the benefit of making the people who paid $40 for the watchpoint pack angry
