19Gb update ffs

For what?
Some skins?

Not even a new map or hero this season…

There goes my ability to play the next couple days while it installs. Seriously if they knew it was gonna be this big an update size it should let you pre-install it a couple days before so its ready

Downloading an entire games worth of storage size for probably one of the most barebones seasons we’ve gotten is peak clownery

Chunks of several maps though

I think that’ll do it tbh

Also where are you that it takes a day to get 20 gigs?

Kind of related. But this reminds me of dead by daylight where every update, you have pretty much re-download the game

They released reworked maps new skins new hereo changes 19 gigs is still crazy for a patch but thats ultimately why for me it says 13.5gigs

How? I’ve had a 330Mb update

Maybe some traps for the cheaters? A girl can dream….

Redownloading 3 maps plus the event plus the skins. By the way OW is 50GB in total.

Are you a console player by any chance? I have prehistoric internet yet it downloaded the prerelease content in a few hours and the update itself was only 320MB

:sob:

Dbd updates are one of the biggest reasons I upgraded my Internet speed knowing my ping would stay the same

just 13.5 gb on steam client

Also just do a verify files after this game patches to to make sure it patched properly after the headache the previous patch caused

What is your internet speed? Even on a 10Mb connection i think thats only like 4-5 hours if i did my napkin math correctly.

Its been downloading for 45 mins and currently at 38mb/18.6g

It will literally take days to finish

Patches this big should

  1. have communication from blizzard that a patch this size is coming
  2. Be able to pre-install the update days before the season launches so people have it ready to go

Its 2024, 0 excuses to not be able to achieve 2 very basic, very reasonable actions for your players

Huh, I remember a friend of mine had a similar issue in the past where the update would go abysmally slow (like tens or hundreds of KB/s at most) and it never resolved until he just did a reinstall of the entire game. Then it went at full speed again.

Maybe you’re encountering the same issue.

People still complain about downloading files, in the year 2024? Are you on Dial-up?

No that’s just how fast my average speeds are. Another 15 mins gone and its now at 150mb/18.6gb

The devs shouldn’t expect people to have lightning fast internet if they want to experience the new season on launch day

I dunno what dialup is lol

Im with the only provider in my area thats why they can get away with trash speeds

That’s fluxuating quite wildly, but assuming the last 45 min was consistent, that’s like 1Mbps. How did you even download the initial game on that connection? It probably took weeks.

Is the game also even playable? What kind of latency do you get on that connection?

My update is only 3.09GB

There was a pre-release update of about 1.2GB a few days ago…

Can usually average around 60-70 ping

The game performs fine. And if it was the usual 200mb-2gb patch itd be no problem.

The issue is this patch is 9x bigger than the max size of a normal patch size with 0 communication or set up for people to manage that for season launch

Like i said above. 2024. Billion $ dev team. This stuff shouldnt be happening

We shouldve had a post saying

hey the next patch will be a bit bigger than usual cus x, y, z. We are releasing a pre patch the friday before so you can install the bulk of the update for tuesday’s launch. On Tuesday there will be a small 200mb patch just to push the update live + any hotfixes. Thank you for understanding’

Fixed the issue. Instead we get silence from a AAA $billion studio on basic stuff
