19Gb update ffs

Understandable frustration. I do totally agree they should’ve allowed time for a pre-patch, though it does sound like you have a very slow internet connection relative to the majority of people.

I can understand, even as a billion dollar company, accommodating internet speeds this slow is probably not a top priority. From the sounds of it, I’d wager you have like <1th percentile internet speed. Even my parents who live in rural middle-of-nowhere have access to a 30Mb connection these days. Our original DSL line from 20+ years ago was also 3Mbps, which would be 3x faster than what you seem to have now.

Its not about internet speeds or accompanying anything

Its about basic communication with your customer

Even if i had 200mbs internet which is like max speed you can get with other providers elsewhere, id been pissed there was 0 communication on the patch

Even at 200mbs you are waiting longer than you should be

Its season launch i wanna play now. Not in 30 mins. Not in 2 days. Now.

Its clear they knew this was coming and would be an issue why else did they delay the collab 2 days after the season launch… cus they KNEW a lot of players wouldnt be able to get in game day 1 cus of the patch. Why wouldnt they release the collab on season launch and instead wait 2 extra superfluous days otherwise

TBH you are the exception, Get better net.

Prepatch for me from last week was 3GB and now its 300mb update and patching in the pre-patch data. 5 mins or so depending on your cpu and connection speed.

It’s probably updating the new maps and there are new things on each, which might make up the bulk of it.

Keep in mind that they also changed a lot behind the scenes like the UI, reporting system, MM and reworked a few maps. Its not only skins and a few pictures.

Sounds about right. I got that 300MB update right after too. Its weird how they separate them like that.

200Mb is definitely not even close to the max speed you can get most places. It is probably above average for the typical household, but 1Gb connections are pretty common these days, even on cable lines (no fiber required) and a lot of places do have 2Gb or 5Gb connections as well.

And I do not think a 30 minute patch would be unacceptable and require communication. The gaming world fully expects and understands that large patches come out from time to time and that there will be a small downtime between updates.

Again I understand your frustration and I do think they could’ve definitely gona the extra mile here and at very least offer a predownload, but I doubt this had much, if any, impact on the average player.

EDIT:
According to:

The median US download speed is ~242Mbps, and worldwide is 92Mbps. So at least in the US, 200Mb is very likely a below average internet speed.

then perhaps its spychat automation + rigging codework, updates.

Bro, in my country 10 mb is something fantastic.

And I’m sorry to hear that, but you’re probably not the demographic for online gaming.

Huge downloads like this usually happen when a portion of part or all of the code is changed. Even changing one line can require a 10+GB update if that line of code effects everything else.

plus there are also a bunch of map changes

If you are on PC and battle.net then it has been offering the update since last Thursday or Friday. I updated over the weekend. Today was just a little update of 300MB or something to get it up-to-date. Seems like they do what you ask. Probably steam doesn’t do this though as I don’t think it has a pre-download new release option.

Sounds like you didn´t download first part before weekend, lol. How?

Hopefully the cheaters time is counting down. I’d love to play a game again without one. Is that too much to ask?

19 GB’s worth of absolute garbage.

How slow is your internet? A couple of days seems excessive.

It did. At least on PC it did. I don’t play console so I don’t know what happened in console land, but mine on PC did pre-install.

Also 4 map reworks, plus updates to Oasis for the teaser. So, several maps had to be redownloaded. Skins yes. New game mode as well. Code changes to new scoreboard, changes to main menu, etc.

lmaooo

Indeed its 2024, no reason to still have a dial up connection

It took me… THREE… HOURS. THREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES

In console land I had to wait THREE GOD DAMN HOURS.
