So what am I supposed to do when the healers get attacked? Ask the sniper to peel? What about the two flankers in the enemy backline? Maybe I should turn around and try to get them with my hammer? I’m sure the Reaper attacking the Ana will appreciate that. So will the McCree with the rest of the enemy team.
This is the whole point of off-tanks. I can’t change my tactics because tanks are necessarily MTs in this mode. And the DPS don’t exactly help because they’re too busy doing this to the team players on the opposing side.
These are different parts of a tank’s job. Is Rein’s barrier solely for creating space? Does Zarya’s projected bubble just not work when you need to peel? Tanks minimize damage taken and push forward. Supports heal back the shots that land and assist in getting picks. The DPS deal out damage and create an actual reason for tanks to not just W+M1.
Yeah, this is the problem. “Position well” doesn’t mean much when you can’t win a 1v1 with a more mobile flanker and there’s no backup to be found. DPS in this game just run off to shoot things. The point of the off-tank role is that they’re like DPS, but actually protect teammates instead of run off to attempt a solo dragonblade.
Overwatch is supposed to straddle the boundary between a FPS and a MMO. The TTK is correspondingly between. We wouldn’t need healers if everyone dies the instant they make a mistake. We wouldn’t need tanks if they don’t survive outside hard cover. This isn’t just [generic shooter]:[insertedgynamehere]. It was never supposed to be.
Right, so McCree or Ashe is easier to play than Ana?
And let me guess Junkrat or Torb is easier to play than Sigma or Hammond? DPS are the cause of a lot of balance problems
Why?
BECAUSE ALL OF THEM BESIDES WIDOW AND
TRACER ARE EASY TO PLAY
I love Sombra, I always will but even I know that playing as her is much easier than playing as Hammond. The chances to get CC’d is much higher and his gun is incredibly weak compared to others.
Well Jeff flat out said it was going away at the end of the week so, it seems pretty legit. He also commented on the mostly negative feed back so, again it seems pretty legit. No matter what Blizzard does they will lose players. If this more FPS like 1-3-2 comes out, they’ll lose the MOBA crowd.
Players like me who aren’t fond of the tank changes at all. More strategy, less mechanics. Whilst the dps crowd will trickle out because of the long load times, as you said. However, Blizzard can keep on looking for different solutions to that. If they permanently change tanks, they permanently lose the players that liked that style of tanking. Those Dps players can always come back if Blizzard some how figures the queue times out.
The tanks players who refuse to change stay gone. 1-3-2 isn’t the right solution in my opinion. Blizzard probably understands that to, which is why it’s going away later this week.
No… but as a sniper… yes omg It is so fun s^$%#g on a team that does not have a shield lol. In reality it removes ALLLLL team play and just lets whoever has the better sniper win.
It’s fun as an alternative, and being a QP regular long before 2-2-2, i’m used to solo tanking and can make a team work, but this is still a role lock. If i’m on support and the tank is underperforming, i can’t take over. I’ll just go back to doing my Tank/Support in QPC when this is over.
the point of the off-tank role is that they’re like DPS, but actually protect teammates
I sort of agree, I think a good compromise between 1-3-2, would be 1-1-2-2, by making off-tank it’s own role and maybe moving Mei to off-tank. The problem with 2-2-2 is that very often a team is just running two main tanks which can turtle and be very boring to play against and as.
Well, ideally OW would have enough players to justify having the option of multiple role ratios at the same time so everyone gets what they want, similar to how TF2 has 6s and Highlander. The problem is OW has already split the player-base and slowed queue-times too much to make that sustainable. Role ratios wouldn’t really be a good idea because it just means every rotation a huge amount of players will choose not to play ranked because their prefered role ratio isn’t active. This only worsens OW problem with player cohesion.
I agree, for 1-3-2 to really reach it’s potential they need to balance the game better around 1-3-2. For example, snipers would need a nerf and off-tanks should be given some better tools.
Yes, snipers are really the main problem in 1-3-2, and some tanks are still weak, like many healers. I hope devs will try to solve these issues instead of removing this experiment
