🍋 Moira Rework Idea

Here it is ! I said I was going to make that topic, and here it it !

So. Why am I doing this topic already ? Moira has, in my opinion, the lowest skill cap in the game. She’s the easiest character to play. While that is good as she is more accessible, she also is too strong. And here is a suggestion that will be separated in 2 parts:

• Part 1: The Rework
-Biotic Grasp: There now is a Gauge for both Damage and Heal. When Moira respawns, her Damage Gauge will be half filled, same for her Healing Gauge.

When she uses her Healing, her HG (Healing Gauge) will decrease, and her DG will increase. And, if she deals damage, her DG will decrease and her HG will increase.

This will, in first place, make her Healing/Damage management harder, meaning she will have to keep a good balance between both. 2nd, goodbye DPS Moira. Now they’ll be forced to heal at some point.

-New Ability: Intervert
This ability would be binded to [INTERACT]. What this ability does is simple: Interverts her HG and DG. Basically, if you are healing your team and your HG is empty, then it means your DG is full, and if you use Intervert, your HG will be filled and your DG will be emptied. It interverts the 2 gauges, but has a 1.25 cast time. You move slower during the cast time, and can’t use fade.

-Coalescence:
When you use Coalescence, it will reset your two gauges, setting them back to half.

-General Changes:
Moira has less healing capacity, but has a slightly higher HPS. Her DPS would be increased Since you can’t damage forever, and her two gauges would decrease at the same rate if they’re used.

• Part 2: Other Suggestions
This part is basically some other ideas that I don’t really think should be implemented. Just some random ideas lol

-Orbs: The Orb’s strenght would depend on her gauges. Her Healing Orb would do much more healing if her HG is very high. Same for Damage Orb.

-Coalescence: Same here. The Coalescence would deal more or less damage/heals depending on Moira’s gauges. It’d mean you could adapt quickly: If you need to heal your team as quick as possible, but your HG is empty, you can use Intervert and then Coalescence to deal a HUGE amount of healing, but no self-healing and no damage. And if you wanna be offensive, then let your DG totally full and your Coalescence would deal some damage. Not outrageous damages, as Moira is a Support, but damages still. Higher than the actual Coalescence.

-Intervert: Other way it could work: If you hold both Right Click and Left Click at the same time, it would slowly get the 2 Gauges back to half.

Once again, I don’t think these two other suggestions should be added, though it would make her rely more on her gauges, asking for more skill. But I think that what was said in Part 1 is enough to make her more skilled while keeping her potential. I feel like this could actually work !

Couldn’t find other emojis that could represent Moira for the title. It’s supposed to represent her Healing Orb. I tried to put Grapes for the Damage Orb but I couldn’t :pensive:

Why so complicated? Just make her aim instead of her indolent R-click.

People still thinks her Right Click is a Lock-On… Sigh…

Whether it is or isn’t does not matter in the slightest.

If the only argument to defend Moira you can come up with is “BuT iTs NoT A LoCk On” you shouldn’t be debating.

Interesting Ideas, but I dont think its a great Idea to overload a Hero’s kit, also this would intervene with using Symmetra’s Teleporter

I literally just gave a link that was explaining why it is not a Lock-On. Too lazy to explain myself.
Also, I don’t care of her Right Click. I care about the rest of her kit.

Sombra and Torbjörn both have something binded to their Interact

no it wouldnt actually

It’s gauge , not jauge

Anyways, this just seems like a long winded nerf to her kit. You make her have to rely on a gauge to deal damage, but you don’t buff her damage at all, in fact you nerf it even more.

It’s like people don’t want moira to deal any damage at all. Not every support is supposed to be like mercy, where healing is their top priority at all times no matter what. Half of Moira’s kit is damage, and that’s on purpose. You can’t take that away because you don’t like it.

But the only thing you can say to a rework proposal is “ITS NOT A LOCK ON”, that’s such an irrelevant piece of information in this debate, it holds no substance.

Either offer constructive criticism or by least don’t just be like the other Moira defenders spamming the “NO LOCK ON” nonsense instead of offering a legitimate argument.

People who complain about Moira are just whiners, they aren’t interested in “fixing” her they just want to remove her from the game. She doesn’t need any ridiculous rework.

I see what you’re saying.
Consider this whole thing as a Suggestion, I wouldn’t mind that Moira deals more Damage, what I want her to be like is an actual balance between Damage and Heal ^^

Very well then.
Moira’s Right Click is not a lock on. Why, you may ask ?
Very simple, Jamy. A Lock-On is something that sticks to the target and STAYS locked on the Target no matter what happens, except if the target gets really far.
Moira’s right click is different, because if your cursor is getting too far from the target, her bean is no longer locked. It is called a “Soft Lock”.

Why I think that her soft lock is a better idea is because giving her a beam like Symmetra wouldn’t make sense at all. Moira is supposed to absorb her enemy’s vital energy, not just throw a beam at them.

I hope this is the kind of debate you wanted to see

Okay before we spiral out of control:

It’s not a lock on. If people say “remove her lock on” they probably mean reduce the hitbox on her beam.

Yes it does actually.

When A hero has an ability, and you use the Teleporter, both are activated. I have witnessed this myself, and I have had my turret destroyed accidentaly. Same thing with Sombra, and rebinding doesnt work since Interact is bound to the same abilities

It actually does hold substance because there is a fundamental difference between how lock ons function and how Moira’s beam functions that are important to the conversation. I.E with a true lock on you don’t have to track at all and no matter where someone moves to on your screen your weapon will automatically keep applying damage. I.e Symmetra’s original weapon. Since Moira’s weapon is not lock on you still have to have some level of tracking and if someone passes in front of your target you will start damaging them instead. It is an important distinction when discussing the balance of her beam.

Personally, I am in favor of increasing the damage a smidge, tightening its hitbox and changing its visuals to be more like the other beams.

Of course, it’s just that what we’ve learned from overwatch reworks is that maintaining a character’s identity is important.

Whether people like it or not, Moira is a support that deals consistent damage that, if left alone, can and should be high impact.

Characters should have impact, yes.

Her entire theme is about the duality of science. Her whole good vs bad, overwatch/blackwatch vs talon, heal vs damage, yellow vs purple theme is strong, and it’s what makes her such an interesting character.

I mean, her duality extends to her physical appearance, right down to her two different colored eyes, two differently affected hands, and her metallic eye thing on one of her eyes.

Every ability she has that can deal damage has an alternative, stronger one that heals. This is all done purposely, and I honestly find that sort of character flow unique in this game. Reworks proposed by the community should, in my opinion, respect that design and work around it.

Then, I guess that the other version of Intervert would work better ^^

I tried my best to respect that design. I am aware that she is the Incarnation of Duality, of Balance. This is why now, you’d have to keep a balance between your Healing and Damage gauge ^^

As long as she can get her resource back faster through this change, it’s perfect.

How would you change the visuals so it looks like life force is being drained from the target but it still resembles the other beams? Cuz this is the only beam weapon in the game that is theoretically taking energy from the target into the weapon, not taking energy from the weapon into the target.

LMAAOOO it was a cool idea though, although many have suggested a damage gauge, not many have suggested an ability to switch the two so kudos for being unique!

Is jauge the french spelling of gauge? It’s weird, every other word is in english.

But this is too complicated a rework though I can see the principle to put a limit on DPS moiras endlessly attacking but that’s kinda the point of moira, she’s for DPS players who don’t want to play supports, you don’t have to invest much of your time healing, the whole appeal of Moira is how DPS-like she is.

You lost me right there.

I’ve previously suggested she have a single gauge that starts in the middle and swings between healing and damage.
