〽 Sym 3.0: worse pickrate than 2.0, winrate DOWN 7%

Here win rate was always screwed in 2.0 due to having such a small player base. Either you use her in a niche in which she excels in or you main her. More people played 3.0 which caused her win rate to drop just because everyone was playing her in situations that she is weak in.

She’s just even more niche than 2.0 because of how team dependent her kit is. She doesn’t excel in anything and requires a long setup to get her dmg viable.

I’ll tell you that I blocked many more important stuff with the old barrier that the new wall. Not only ults, but also another abilities, like hook, flashbang and helix rockets.

In fact, with the old barrier it was very rare that I would get caught into the “barrier appears 5 ft ahead of Sym and let a projectile pass” bug, while around half the time I intentionally build the wall to block an ult, the enemy can fire through it before it forms, and kill me (and I leave a wall there for the rest of the fight, so it was not “lag”).

Don’t think of the new wall as something that can reactively block ults. You can’t, unless you are top notch reflex playing in a LAN against an enemy that heavily telegraph their intentions. Think of it as creating a team asset in the field, and it have its uses.

Citation needed.

Her Overbuff trends for the last 6 months only had a surge immediately after her rework landed (as expected), and it’s been for a while back into the same 0.8% pickrate as before.

And those 17 accounts belong to less than 12 people.
And 3 of those accounts are only there because they’ve been granted ban immunity.

Oh, well old barrier was better in my opinion but I am saying that her new one isn’t useless

Old teleporter was more usefull. The new teleporter requires communication and teamwork, it is nearly useless down here in trashtier elohell.

I was played Sym 2.0 something about 70 hours. Not very much, but i have somethings to say.

Fistly her old prymary was more useful than now. It dealed less damage, but it ramped up faster, and, the most important, it was lock-on. And i liked it, coz my aim is sucks. Secondary fire not bad, but i liked when orbs could pierce barriers.

Turrets was area-denial thing, also you could use turret as motion detector, e.g. flanker is passing in backlines.

Photon barrier was great tool to save your butt. Dva’s bomb, soldier’s aimbot, widow, high noon… Current ult is the same meaning, but it is ult, which must be earned, not 10 sec cd ability.

TP. Old tp was better. Equivalent of Mercy’s res i would say. E.g. team wiped by nanoblade, but you can bring your team back! That was awesome. Many times my tp won games. Current tp require voice commuinication. Even when you tell that gonna flank team not use it. Why?

Shieldgenerator. I missed its so strong. You made symmetra close range dd, but didnt compensate her 200 hp health. All close ranged dd in this game, like Repear, Doomfist and Mei have 250 hp. Repear has passive self healing while damaging, Doom has passive shields when his abilities damaging and Mei has cryo freeze. All that guys have 250 hp and can generate heal. Invulnerability and high mobility (Doom). If we look at Sym we see she got nothing. No mobility, no 250 hp. Unfair.

A character with a low skill threshold became a hero with a little divine tracking requirement.

Every single hero you guys dicide to rework they became dumb and uninteresting.

When people type a long essay about hero balancing with neat formatting and everything but still write “u”, “urself” and “y”. lmao this is great.

It’s a significant amount of time!

Symmetra still bad?? Nooo, that’s impossible! According to the devs the rework was “extremely successful” and even helped changed the community’s perception of her!

People using totally inaccurate stat sites to try and back their arguments up…

That statistics pretty close and representative to what we have now.

This is the mantra the dev team chants to themselves to drown out the harsh reality that after two reworks sym is still terrible

I love this hero, she’s got a great design backstory and playstyle

So why is it so bad to want her to be decent

Do sym mains not deserve that, have we not earned that right

Great write up OP, I definitely learned something. I’ve been enjoying the new Sym, but Im a casual QP so I’m not experiencing what the comp peeps are.

On thing I’ve always wished (but fear it would be a bit much…) is that the turrets activated faster when deployed. Half the time they get blasted before they even start working.

I’m a big fan myself. I think it’s HOW she does what she does that gets people worked up. Like if you aim a gun and take someones head off, that makes sense to people and that’s fine, so peeps like Widow and 76 are fine. But if you aim a beam at someone? Or swing a mace? That feels cheap and wrong. Doesn’t matter if the end result is the same. Guess what I’m saying is people tend to concentrate on how frustrating a thing is rather than if its OP/UP.

Oof, certainly the fact that the Torbjorn rework is so excellent means that Blizz has their heart in the right place…

But I think they took too many balancing precautions with Sym3

They understand their mistakes with the sym rework and made sure to not do it with torn

So they do know what went wrong

My question is WHY WONT YOU FIX HER TOO
