Tanks are supposed to protect their teammates and create space. Mei is good at punishing people taking space, but not so good at creating space, due to her primary being blocked heavily by shields. Her only protection ability is wall, which also blocks friendly projectiles, so in my opinion, this is not a good idea.
I think if we could rework Mei to Support like old Sym used to be (or at least in a way)… that might benefit those old players like me, who used to be Sym support mains.
I think being one-shot by the snipers would be too much of a handicap as a tank. But I don’t hate this idea overall. Mei is basically a half-tank anyway (as were a fair few of the old defence heroes)
She can be a throw pick in OWL/GM, while being highly played on Diamond through Bronze, and Quickplay. (Because she’s the closest thing to a “Third DPS”).
And if she’s bad in Diamond through Bronze, there’s tons of little small buffs they could do. Like +50selfheal in iceblock or reload in iceblock.
That’s kinda poor logic for doing something and sounds more like what someone offering me a poison chalice might say…
That’s just a series of devastating/confusing nerfs…
She could certainly function as an off tank with extra health so she’s not a one shot. Kinda like Hog I’m a sense, where he punishes bad positioning Mei punishes bad advances.
I dunno if the impact would be that massive the numbers of dedicated Mei players would surely pale in comparison to McCree/Widow/Genji, but it would definitely have some sort of impact due to huge difference in numbers.
I think Doom would be a great candidate that could function in a similar manner to Ball.
I like the idea of non healing Supports or tweaking Damage characters to fit into non-Damage roles, HOWEVERRRRRR these sorta things are often hated by their mains. Perhaps new characters like Sanjay could have a similar theme to Sym but in a more support oriented way (make permanent bridges/tp out of light or something, create turrets that heal/temp shields that decay when you leave).
Oh I see… You’re just creating objectively bad characters then by deliberately making them unviable at the top =\
She has a wall that’s is more effective then a barrier at times, she can be immune to damage and regen health at the same time, she is great crowd controller and makes space easily.
Literally GF is right, she could move over with no issues… at least just looking over the data.
No, I’m observing a truism that applies to “annoying/cc heroes”.
Is that a hero shouldn’t feel both unfair and unfun at the same time.
Or more specifically, particularly annoying heroes shouldn’t be toptier.
Especially since that’s just begging for devs to give poorly-thought-out sledgehammer nerfs to the hero.
By making it so that Mei is intentionally less effective at GM/Pro, it protects her from claims of being overpowered.
