[✅] D.va/Sigma can eat Lamp

Praise the untouchable God queen Ana Give her all the buffs, all the praise and let Genji be addicted slaves to our nano /s

Not sure that is at all possible. Lamp is an object. DM and KG only affect projectiles.

The engine may not even be capable of making a “static projectile”. I don’t know if any that do such a thing.

Projectiles and Objects are coded differently and set up to be recognized by the engine differently.

The devs either have to change the behavior of DM / KG to also recognize objects to delete them - which is…unwise.

Or, they need to change the IF drone into some sort of “static projectile” that functions like an object but isn’t an object. Which isn’t likely.

Pretty sure they aren’t…
As a guy who used to write server code for an FPS game mod.

Bap IF appears to be coded almost identical to Mei Ult.

Just different on throw cast time, deploy cast time, and the effect once deployed.

It’s maddening that it took 42 posts before the right answer came.

its cooldown is too huge for them to just be able to eat it like that tbh

Why? It’s got a nearly Ult level effect.

And D.va can gobble up Gravitons and Mei Ults just fine.

Maybe, but wouldnt it be weird to code? since all proyectiles that end up with a deployable cant be eaten for a reason, you would probably have to make Torbjorn Turret and Symmetra turrets edible too.

To be honest, I think that’s a good idea.

Most of the time, people won’t really throw the lamp from what I see. It’s mostly a close/nearby range throw. Allowing D.va/Sigma to eat it offers a much needed counter to it rather than the “just shoot it” stance.

Making it be deflected seems a bit much here, but since we’re changing its stance from a deployable to a projectile, it has to follow that same logic.

Would probably be a good idea to do, but the whole “destroy it”/hp will probably also go with that logic if it works like Mei’s/Zarya’s ulitmates.

No…because it’s coded exactly like a Mei Ult.

Do you think throwing a Mei Ult at an enemy player makes it explode on contact?

no its not, because mei ult does not spawn a entity with HP, for all we know snowball might as well be an animation because you cant shoot it like you can other deployables

How about a Junkrat Mine?

I think IF is more comparable to a junkrat trap rather than a junkrat mine.

its clearly the out-liar of the group because Translocator, IF, Turret, Sentry turret, Trap can not be eaten

but junk mine can…i dont know, but there is clearly some difference among them, it cant be a coincidence.

What it would mean is Bapt could no longer do long throws and would just throw it at his feet between DM CD like Zarya does. In a comp where he would be surrounded by his teammates and doesn’t need to throw it past a meter, it doesn’t do anything.

You do realize that this line and this one

Are literally contradictory in a sense right?

If meta was caused due to Bapt’s IF, why is that only after buffing her primary, secondary and ult, IF became “more relevant” according to you?

The thing is, there is no such thing as IF meta. IF is only seen as problematic because people is seeing Bapt more often in their games, but in reality, IF was never the main cause for a meta, had it been, Bapt would have also been meta a long time ago…

I can’t tell you more if you can’t see the difference at this point tbh.

IF didn’t matter when the character as a whole was trash

Except one is a projectile and th other is an object.

Projectiles and Object are handled differently. I watched a dev talk about how they even had trouble with certain objects in the game being tracked within the engine (the current one - no clue if they changed things in the OW2 engine) - that made it difficult to do certain things and handle certain interactions.

And how many things can stop rez?

You keep saying that, as if Mei’s Ult explodes on contact.

Sigh. It has been explicitly stated by a dev. Mei’s ult is a projectile that spawns the Blizzard “pet” when the projectile terminates.

Technically yeah. Baptiste Frisbee is a projectile that spawns the Lamp deployable when the projectile terminates.

Torb Turret is a projectile that spawns the Turret object when it terminates.

Ashe dynamite is a projectile that spawns the deployed dynamite object.

Not really seeing the issue here.
