Ehh, they brought PvP forward by taking resources away from PvE. It may not have been officially delayed, because it never had a date, but they clearly shifted their strategy to de-emphasize PvE for the foreseeable future.
If the PVP hadn’t been brought forward we wouldn’t be playing it until next year at the earliest… so obviously not.
It’s more like you get the frame for free, then you have to car poor with still drunks from last night and if you choose not to, your car shuts off for increasing amounts of time.
Steering wheel is in the BP at lvl 20 and the drivers seat is lvl 55.
That and every couple months the remove a part of the car and put another previously missing part on. (it sure will be nice to have a roof next week.)
(like really is anyone buying this drivel?)
PVP may have indeed been brought forward, but that does not mean that PVE was not delayed. The main selling point of OW2 as a sequel was PVE.
Hence, they are the same thing.
Lol no, this isn’t how this is going. What’s actually happened is the shareholders and higher ups at Blizzard applied pressure and told the dev team that they were going to release a scam and keep the PvE as vaporware.
Jeff is not the bad guy here for making anyone wait, if anything it was clearly the better call to wait for a box product because instead, we got the biggest scam I’ve seen to date in the entire gaming market and no PvE in sight(I mean really they can say it will come in 2023 but we all know that it means we’ll get 1 mission and have to wait 6+ months for the second one, the concept of hero missions probably scrapped entirely, along with talent trees).
Anyways, the content drought was deserved when it happened and it should still be going on as far as I am concerned, they literally released the bare minimum and some of you ate it up despite the bare minimum still being garbage full stop.
And that is why it is early access versus a full release. I guess we could have waited another half year with no content and no real event skins or anything new to do and just let the game exist for another half year (or longer) but I suspect the game would not have survived that long.
Doing something earlier than you said you would is not the same as doing it later than you said you would.
The PVE’s release date didn’t change. The PVP’s did.
Internal delays mean nothing. We were never going to get the PVE earlier than 2023. We were supposed to get the PVP alongside it however.
Honestly they should have had an OW2 team and an OW team. OW2 team works on the upcoming PVE, and the OW1 team worked on the PVP and never stopped. It was stupid of them to stop releasing PVP content in order to bring about a PVE title.
So why did every reviewer review this game as a full sequel? Why did Overwatch 2 release on sites like metacritic? How can a game be out and reviewed but still considered early access?
Because Blizzard cannot control what outside groups do. I know we want to call Blizzard all powerful but they cannot make Metacritic do things and to be honest I doubt Blizzard was in a hurry to stop sites from giving them the free publicity of a review when they are going to have to do it again once its off early access (aka when the PvE comes out).
