Credit to Prett for the title. I feel like this quote sums up the misunderstanding of how Jeff wanted things run vs how they are being run. Jeff wanted the game delayed until everything could be released as a single package, what we got instead was a game that could be played without a content drought.
Whether you think that was a good move or a bad move is up to interpretation, but pve hasn’t been delayed pvp was brought forward so they could end the content drought, something I’m personally grateful for.
If you’re gonna call something a sequel then you should have included everything that makes it a sequel. This almost feels like an open beta. But with a fully functioning store with outrageous prices.
Edit: To clarify I usually say that in response to people who are confused that the PVE isn’t currently in the game and then look at the roadmap and go “Whattt??? They seriously delayed the PVE until 2023???”
Like no, the PVE was never going to be released earlier than it is. People like to say it all got delayed internally or whatever, but that really doesn’t mean anything.
You could call it early access, open beta, or any other corporate buzz word. Fork knife was in early access for a year and a half before they removed the substatus, games are very rarely released as finished products. Especially games that intend to have continuous content.
PvE has definitely been delayed. There is no universe in which development on OW2 was started with the intention to release it in 2023. The game has been in development hell, and all the top talent on the team has left Blizzard. The game is not “on schedule” or anything close to it.
Sure if I get the car for free along with continued maintenance, upgrades, parts, features ect for free. That could have been a wacky business model sure.
That’s fair . Idk this isn’t a sequel and they say early access. But then every reviewer reviewed it as OW2. The company may say it’s early access. But the industry treated it as a sequel. And again if it’s early access, should the store be there then?
Correct, and on the roadmap it simply just says “2023” doesn’t indicate which quarter, season, or anything else.
However, that seems like an area to especially be more transparent and open to communication about.
RobotWizard has a great example of it being a house with a sick pool in the backyard. Which is, yeah… I agree with that.
The twist I turned for that (especially going through it with my house and the backyard being completed)… That’s fine, and I can absolutely be appreciative of the house being there, however, it’s the worst feeling when you see the rest of it and there has been little to no communication of the schedule or completion to it.
Sadly investors drive a lot of the decisions cause too many spineless cowards run the company and are greedy and dont care about the product they are selling.
